The LaFerrari is the current flagship of the prancing horse brand. It is the spiritual successor to models such as the Enzo or the F50.

So far the LaFerrari has only been built as a closed coupé, with production limited to 499 units. Now it seems only a matter of time before we see the convertible version of this Italian marvel.

The Ferrari LaFerrari is the top model of the Italian brand. It was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show amid great anticipation. It is a technologically advanced vehicle, being the first Ferrari in history to fit a hybrid propulsion system.

Its design leaves no room for doubt; it is one of the most beautiful Ferrari of the last decades. Every line and curve has a predetermined function that results in outstanding performance. This model is the Ferrari weapon for competing with confidence in the new generation of hybrid hypercars, among which we find the McLaren P1 and the Porsche 918 Spyder.

Now, after two years in production, the LaFerrari is about to show its more playful side with the launch of the Spider version, following the path left by the F50 as the last member of the Italian brand’s family of open-top hypercars. The Enzo never had a convertible variant at any point.

Around 200 units will possibly be built at a price of approximately 2 million euros.

The success of the LaFerrari has been instant thanks to dynamic qualities never before seen in a Ferrari. The LaFerrari is the most powerful production Ferrari in history -963 CV- and the one that has set the fastest lap at the Fiorano circuit, with a time of 1’20”.

Some details about the LaFerrari Spider are still unclear, although it seems its production will be even more limited than that of the closed model, which, let us recall, was capped at 499 units. It is possible that the Spider version will not exceed 200 units built.

Considering that the “standard” LaFerrari has a starting price of 1.7 million euros, it is very likely that in the convertible version the price will soar above 2 million euros. It seems logical that the LaFerrari Spider will keep the propulsion system of the closed version, with its naturally aspirated V12 engine and its electrical system.

As for dates, nothing is clear yet, but a hypothetical launch in June, coinciding with the celebration of the Ferrari Cavalcade 2016, an event for enthusiasts and owners of vehicles from the Italian brand, is increasingly being considered.
