Kia production of the Kia Stinger ends: the sports saloon says goodbye
The misunderstood Stinger will stop being produced during the second quarter of 2022 due to its low sales volume

The Kia Stinger was born in 2017 as a product conceived in a truly attractive way, designed to show that it could stand up to the Germans even at a considerably lower price and without giving up a handsome design or good dynamics.
The Korean brand had never ventured into the sports saloon segment, and its debut in this market was made with the help of Albert Biermann, who at the time had been vice president of engineering at BMW and was responsible for the development of the M3 F30 and M4 F32, among other M models.

Biermann led the development of the Kia Stinger, drawing on his experience at the head of the performance division of BMW, creating a GT with sporting aspirations which, in its most powerful version, was going to have 366 CV of power.
Sadly, the model’s low sales volume has led Kia to decide to end production of this magnificent car, which was built exclusively at the Sohari plant in South Korea.

A sports car up to the task
In our country only the top-of-the-range version of the model is currently offered, which has under its bonnet a 3.3-litre T-GDI engine with all-wheel drive and 366 CV, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and from 80 to 120 km/h in 3.4 seconds.
The strong point of the package is its price, which starts at 58,500 euros before discounts, a price that, taking into account its huge standard equipment and its power, places it at a clear advantage over its German rivals, which need up to 10,000 euros more to get close to its power and equipment.

A magnificent car, though misunderstood
We can currently get a Kia Stinger for 54,450 euros, a truly attractive price when we consider the product we get, but one that has tragically arrived at the wrong moment, when the SUV trend has swallowed up this type of car.
Its production was planned until 2024, but as we have said, Kia has been forced to bring this date forward due to its sales figures, a number that falls well short of what is needed to keep it on sale.
