G-Power has prepared up to four tuning packages to boost the Mercedes-AMG GT R. The most powerful one gives it 800 CV and 850 Nm of torque.

As the second independent model of Mercedes-AMG, after the SLS, the Mercedes-AMG GT R is a tremendous sports car. Now, G-Power has wanted to boost it to the nth power. The Mercedes-AMG GT R features a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 585 CV and 700 Nm of peak torque. Few people would feel the need to get behind the wheel of a faster machine. After all, the Mercedes-AMG GT R goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 318 km/h.

Although these figures are more than good, G-Power wanted to squeeze extra power out of the sports car from the star brand. The tuning specialist offers four different options to increase the peak power of the V8 engine, culminating in a variant of 800 CV and 850 Nm of peak torque.

The additional boost is achieved through a combination of the Performance Software V4 and several hardware modifications to the M178 engine. These include a racing fuel pump, forged pistons with optimised weight and reduced compression, modified turbochargers with a larger turbine, as well as optimised CNC housings and improved compressor turbine wheels.

The intake system with sport air filters and downpipes with sport catalytic converters are also new. To cope with the additional 220 CV and 150 Nm of torque, G-Power’s engineers have also reinforced the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

If the 800 CV power output seems too extreme, the tuner also offers the Performance Software V3 combined with the same hardware modifications for a total of 750 CV and 800 Nm of torque. Further down the power ladder is the Performance Software V2, which takes the 4.0-litre V8 power unit to 700 CV and 770 Nm of torque in combination with optimised downpipes. Finally, the Performance Software V1 is the entry level, so it offers less power, reaching 650 CV and a more than satisfactory 750 Nm of peak torque.

Each of the power kits mentioned above can be ordered with forged aluminium wheels, Hurricane RR, with Michelin tyres in staggered sizes 275/30 ZR20 at the front axle and 305/25 ZR21 at the rear.

It is not the only modification the tuner G-Power is making to some of the most iconic German models. Recently, the BMW M2 has also received a power boost. G-Power has given this Bavarian machine 670 CV and 860 Nm of peak torque from the twin-turbo, six-cylinder S55B30 M45 3.0-litre engine.

The BMW M5 did not want to miss out on this power upgrade either, and the upgraded saloon from the Bavarian brand features a 4.4-litre twin-turbo engine producing 700 CV, an increase of 100 CV over the standard specification. Just as with the Mercedes-AMG GT R, G-Power has also offered a version reaching 800 CV.
