MG Motor will begin selling the premium IM5 and IM6 models in Europe this summer
With these launches, MG Motor aims to position itself in the European premium electric segment, where the selling price relative to the technological level offered will be its main attraction.
MG Motor is set to put two new fully electric high-end models with 800-volt architecture on sale in some European markets starting next July. They are the IM5 saloon and the IM6 SUV.
IM Motors is a brand created in 2020 as a joint venture between SAIC, Alibaba and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech. After starting series production in 2022 for the Chinese market, the company made its European debut at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show, beginning sales in July 2025 in Germany, France and Belgium. In Europe, IM is positioned as a premium sub-brand under the umbrella of MG Motor, and not as an independent brand.

The best of MG Motor is identified with the IM
sub-brandThe name IM stands for “Intelligence in Motion” and represents MG Motor’s commitment to high-tech electric vehicles, with a particular emphasis on mechanics, batteries, software and driver assistance systems.
“With IM we are bringing cutting-edge technology to the European market. The new IM5 and IM6 represent a new generation of intelligent electric mobility and are a showcase of the technical potential of MG Motor.”

The IM5 is a saloon 4.93 metres long, while the IM6 is an SUV measuring 4.90 metres. Both are fitted with a 100 kWh battery pack with NMC chemistry and powerful motors capable of delivering between 300 and 553 kW. The range figure announced by the manufacturer is also first-class, with up to 655 km claimed for the German market under the WLTP homologation cycle.
When charging, both models support charging powers above 350 kW, making it possible to increase the state of charge from 10 to 80 per cent in just 17 minutes. Among the notable features of both models is the rear-wheel steering on all-wheel-drive versions, which reduces the turning circle of the IM5 to just under 10 metres.

Inside, the Chinese manufacturer offers a high level of comfort with electrically adjustable, ventilated front seats with memory, a large 26.3-inch screen, a wireless charger for mobile devices and a 20-speaker audio system. In addition, these models incorporate advanced driver assistance systems and intelligent software focused on offering the highest degree of safety, comfort and connectivity.
With these two models, MG Motor expands its European range into the premium electric segment, placing greater emphasis on charging performance, technology and refinement than on the models currently on sale that we already know. Prices and available versions will be announced later, a key factor for its success in highly competitive markets such as Germany.
