The Shanghai Motor Show has returned in force after three years in which it could not be held. And now we can see all the cars that have been presented at this event, so important for the Asian market. Among all the models we were already expecting, we have seen others that have surprised us quite a lot. One of the cars presented has been the NETA GT. A coupé electric two-door that stands out for several reasons.

The Chinese manufacturer had already surprised with the presentation of the NETA S, an electric saloon that uses two electric motors, delivering a combined output of 345 kW, equivalent to 463 CV. The range this saloon is rated for is 1,000 kilometres, though under the CLTC cycle. Its price is the equivalent of 32,000 euros. But now, let’s move on to the NETA GT.

Smaller size, very capable performance

NETA is a brand under the umbrella of Hozon New Energy Automobile, a Chinese mobility company that wants to position itself against the country’s major brands, BYD, Xpeng and NIO. The NETA GT is slightly shorter in length than the previous model, at 4.71 metres long. The wheelbase is 2.77 metres, which allows good interior space for its occupants.

Under the coupé bodywork there are two variants, depending on the motor. The first has a motor on the rear axle, delivering an output of 170 kW, that is, 228 CV. The most complete version has two motors, as it is complemented by a second motor, placed on the front axle. In this case, it produces a total output of 340 kW, that is 456 CV, and a torque of 620 Nm.

The acceleration this configuration allows is 3.7 seconds. The LFP batteries have been supplied by CATL and will be available in three capacities. The most basic will offer a capacity of 62.24 kWh, while the intermediate battery will have a capacity of 74.48 kWh and, finally, the most powerful will offer a capacity of 77.9 kWh.

With these batteries, ranges of 560, 580 and 660 kilometres are rated, according to the CLTC cycle. The price of the NETA GT will start at the equivalent of 23,100 euros at the current exchange rate, while the most powerful version will reach, at the exchange rate, 30,190 euros. There is no news about the possibility of this model reaching Europe at any point, although in that case the price would be higher than this.
