OMODA 9 SHS: 537 CV and 145 km of electric range for just €39,990
With the largest battery in its segment (34.46 kWh), the OMODA 9 SHS offers almost double the electric range of many premium rivals
If someone had told me a few years ago that a Chinese SUV could compete with European giants like Audi, BMW or Mercedes, I would probably have burst out laughing. But here it is, the OMODA 9 SHS, and it does so with a confidence that is almost intimidating… and best of all, for barely a third of the price of its rivals. Yes, while many hybrid competitors climb past €100,000, this plug-in SUV offers 537 CV, all-wheel drive, cutting-edge technology and a high-density battery pack for €39,100 after incentives.
So if you’re looking for a car with space, efficiency and the ability to deliver the best of both worlds (combustion and electricity), look no further…

Many would say that getting into the OMODA 9 feels like stepping into a car from the future. But what matters is what’s under the bonnet. It features a fifth-generation 1.5T GDI DHE combustion engine, light yet brutally efficient with 44.5% thermal efficiency, working in perfect harmony with three electric motors. The 3DHT hybrid transmission, a dual-clutch three-speed unit, delivers power so smoothly that it almost seems like magic. The result is acceleration figures of 4.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, 2.8 seconds from 90 to 120 km/h, and all of this with a ridiculously low average consumption of 1.4 L/100 km WLTP
. Best of all: you don’t have to remortgage your house to enjoy it.
Driving it is a spectacle. In the city, you barely hear a thing and can cover more than 140 km without using a single drop of fuel
, and over 1,100 km of combined total range. On the road, thanks to its 537 CV, the throttle, the three electric motors and the combustion engine combine to deliver a surge that makes you smile and rethink everything you thought you knew about an SUV. It also includes up to six different driving modes that let the OMODA 9 adapt to the terrain: smooth and comfortable on the highway, aggressive in Sport mode, and even capable of tackling sand or snow with confidence.

The CATL M3P 34.46 kWh battery pack not only delivers impressive electric range and fast charging, but is also a fortress when it comes to safety: triple armour, resistance to impacts of up to 10 tonnes, IP68 certification and an automatic disconnection system that cuts the power within just 2 milliseconds after a crash, preventing short circuits, a standard that not even all European manufacturers meet yet. And as a clever final touch, you can use the OMODA 9 as an external power source thanks to its V2L
function. Yes, while you drive, your SUV could be charging the drone, the laptop or even a small appliance at the weekend campsite.
And yes, price is once again the key. While a Porsche Cayenne e-Hybrid (462 CV, 90 km electric) starts at €105,000, and a BMW X5 plug-in hybrid (489 CV, 110 km electric) costs around €93,000, the OMODA 9 SHS offers more power, more electric range and more technology for less than €40,000
.

Compared with domestic competitors such as the EBRO S900
, which offers respectable but much more conservative figures, the OMODA 9 SHS comes out ahead in power, efficiency and technology. The EBRO is trying to make its way in Spain with 100 km of electric range and a smaller battery, but it doesn’t have the same “car of the future” feel that the OMODA 9 conveys: instant power, absolute smoothness and a range that gives you confidence for travelling.
