Peugeot 408: new look and three electrification options
With a length of 4.69 metres, a width of 1.86 metres and a height of 1.49 metres, the new Peugeot 408 keeps a low, elongated silhouette, set on a wheelbase of 2.79 metres. The main changes are at the front, where it features a illuminated grille with the Peugeot emblem, a redesigned bumper and better-integrated headlights.

The daytime running lights and indicators sit at the top, while the dipped and main beam functions are located in projectors positioned lower down. The top trims incorporate Peugeot Matrix LED technology. At the rear, the Full LED light clusters are combined with illuminated “PEUGEOT” letters. The five-colour palette also debuts the eye-catching Verde Flare colour (€650).
Welcoming interior
The cabin keeps the Peugeot i-Cockpit, made up of a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a central touchscreen of the same size. The GT and GT Exclusive trims add five customisable virtual i-Toggles for quicker access to the most-used functions.

New three-dimensional graphics are also introduced for the instrumentation, along with ambient lighting configurable in eight colours. The GT Exclusive raises the level of comfort with Alcantara upholstery, electrically adjustable, heated and massaging front seats, driver’s seat with AGR certification, a heated steering wheel and a ten-speaker Focal sound system.
Three options built on electrified systems
The mechanical range revolves around three alternatives. The Peugeot 408 Hybrid 145 combines a three-cylinder 1.2 petrol engine with an electric system integrated into the e-DCS6 dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It produces a combined output of 145 CV and 230 Nm, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds and has a homologated consumption of between 5.0 and 5.1 l/100 km. According to the brand, it can run in electric mode up to 50% of the time in urban driving and reach a total range of 1,000 kilometres. Its boot, with 536 litres, is the largest in the range.

The 408 Plug-in Hybrid 240 combines a 1.6 petrol engine producing 180 CV with a 125 CV electric motor (15 CV more than the previous edition), delivering a combined 240 CV and 360 Nm. Its battery increases to 17.2 kWh gross — 14.6 kWh usable — and allows up to 85 kilometres in electric mode, 20 kilometres more than before. The new e-DCS7 dual-clutch transmission helps it complete 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. Charging is done on alternating current via a 3.7 kW charger as standard or an optional 7.4 kW unit for €400, while the boot offers 415 litres.
The zero-emission alternative is the E-408 Electric 210. Its motor delivers 157 kW — 213 CV — and 343 Nm, powered by a 58.3 kWh usable battery (61.9 kWh gross). The homologated range reaches 456 kilometres and consumption stands between 14.7 and 15 kWh/100 km. It accepts 11 kW on alternating current and up to 120 kW on fast charging, a power level with which it can go from 20% to 80% in 31 minutes. It features a battery temperature preconditioning system to improve charging, either manually or via the GPS navigation system.

It also offers three levels of regenerative braking, a bidirectional charger compatible with V2L function and an eight-year or 160,000-kilometre battery warranty, with a minimum of 70% capacity. The heat pump comes as standard on GT Exclusive versions, while it is available as an option on the other versions for €800. Its boot offers 468 litres.
High-level trims
The offer is structured across the Allure, GT and GT Exclusive trims, with the option of 17, 19 or 20-inch alloy wheels. From Allure onwards it includes dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and start, wireless connectivity, adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function and various safety assistants. The GT adds Matrix LED headlights, connected navigation, a powered tailgate and Level 2 semi-autonomous driving. The GT Exclusive incorporates 360-degree vision via four cameras, rear traffic detection, the Clean Cabin system and a broader comfort specification.

It includes the Connect One system for 10 years and Connect Plus for a period of six months on the GT and GT Exclusive variants.
The Peugeot 408 Hybrid 145 starts at €37,230 in Allure trim, with a financed offer from €29,530. The GT has a list price of €41,030 and the GT Exclusive reaches €45,530. With this update, the 408 keeps its original approach but gains presence, improves its equipment and covers three different degrees of electrification, from the non-plug-in hybrid to the fully electric model, and the model’s warranty is extended to 8 years.
