Suzuki says no to scandal and yes to quieter vehicles with its new systems

Suzuki has shown a strong commitment to reducing pollution and improving the comfort of its vehicles, something it has achieved with lower noise.

The automotive world is behaving in a far less harmful way for the environment, something it achieves with hybrid powertrains, electric motors or by improving exhaust systems. On the one hand, we find many companies resorting to producing countless noisy exhausts to enhance the driving experience but, on the other, we find Suzuki, a brand that has decided to increase comfort and reduce the pollution of its vehicles by cutting exhaust noise.

The Japanese firm has worked hard to achieve the desired result and, to do so, various mechanical components of its models have had to be modified. Suzuki presents itself as a brand fully committed to the problem of noise pollution, since it actively takes part in noise regulation standards for vehicles in different countries, with the aim of improving the quality of its vehicles, reducing the emissions they produce and offering greater driving comfort.

To do this, Suzuki has focused its efforts on some key points of every car, which involves modifications to both the engine and the exhaust system itself. However, the Japanese brand has not only focused on improving its vehicles, but also the factories where they are produced, where noise is also a factor that interrupts and hinders the creation of new and better models. In this way, Suzuki has made sure to climb one more step in every aspect.

With regard to its engines, the brand has focused on reducing any possible vibration, which it has achieved by using timing chains instead of belts. This new measure has been applied to the 1.0 Boosterjet engine, which meets all the necessary measures to avoid any noise or discomfort typical of a three-cylinder engine. However, Suzuki has worked with more elements to achieve much quieter results.

The Japanese firm has improved the build quality of various components such as the crankshaft, the flywheel, the rigid construction of the cylinder block or the sump, or the mounts that connect the engine to the body. At the same time, damping has been applied to the exhaust heat shields to reduce their vibrations, which have been designed with sub-chambers and silencers that reduce noise.

However, Suzuki has not only been concerned with external noise pollution, but also with internal noise. To this end, sound-absorbing materials have been used in the bonnet and engine bay, two crucial points where noise is generated with the greatest intensity. To improve the whole, the brand has also used this same material in the wheel arches, bodywork and doors.

Without a doubt, the Japanese brand has made a great effort to improve the quality of each and every one of its models, with the aim of satisfying the customer and protecting the environment and pedestrians. For now, Suzuki will continue along this path, which will keep growing until it leads to 100% electric vehicles.
