The FIAT Grande Panda is also available with a non-electrified engine

The FIAT Grande Panda was launched as an electric car and with electrified engines, although the range is now going to be expanded with a non-electrified variant.

The FIAT Grande Panda hit the market a few months ago with fully electric options and electrified combustion engines. However, it seems that several users have decided they don’t need a vehicle of this kind and only want a combustion engine to enjoy driving. So the Stellantis brand has listened to them and launched a combustion engine variant without electrification.

This version will come with a manual gearbox, so its price will be lower than the electrified versions. This variant will be powered by the well-known 1.2-litre engine from Stellantis, which is also found in the Citroën C3. The three-cylinder engine produces 100 CV and a maximum torque of 205 Nm, with Stop & Start equipment.

It is worth remembering that the hybrid version of the Grande Panda offers 109 CV and the electric version offers 111 CV. This power is sent to the front axle through the aforementioned six-speed manual gearbox. If FIAT dares to launch a four-wheel-drive version, the rear axle will be driven by an electric motor.

Aesthetically, this variant is identical to the other two, although without the badges that identify it as hybrid or electric. The exhaust pipe is hidden under the rear bumper, so it goes unnoticed. Inside, the centre console has been changed, since it houses the gear lever, something the other variants do not have.

The trim levels are the same across all three options: Pop as the entry level; Icon for the mid-range configuration; and the flagship, La Prima. The entry level comes with 16-inch black steel wheels. It has no infotainment screen, but it does have a holder for a smartphone. It does have a 10-inch instrument cluster display.

The Icon trim adds LED lights at both the front and rear. The wheels have a more modern design and there is a sound system with six speakers and a 10.25-inch multimedia screen. Finally, the La Prima trim includes 17-inch wheels and automatic climate control. It also includes a rear-view camera and other features fitted as standard.

It will be available in several colours, and the starting price of this variant is not yet known. As a reference, it should be in line with the Citroën C3, although perhaps it will be slightly more expensive. We will find out soon and will be able to tell whether it is really worth it compared with the other versions.
