The lion brand launches the new e-208 GTi on the market

With this launch, Peugeot reinforces its commitment to dynamic versions within its electric range, maintaining the fun and accessible spirit that has always characterised the brand’s GTi models

Peugeot has just officially unveiled the definitive version of the e-208 GTi, exactly one year after showing a first prototype. This electric sports compact arrives at a time when demand for compact electric vehicles with a strong sporty character continues to grow, which bodes well for sales of this model. The French brand has already opened orders, with prices starting from €42,900 in France.

The new e-208 GTi seeks to bring the essence of the classic “hot hatch” into the electric era, combining everyday practicality with the performance of a sports car. Equipped with the M4+ electric motor, this sporty compact delivers 207 kW of power and 345 Nm of torque.

Peugeot also states that its high performance allows it to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 5.5 seconds, and to cover a kilometre from a standing start in 25.8 seconds. In-gear acceleration from 80 km/h to 120 km/h takes 3.2 seconds, and its top speed is limited to 180 km/h.

“The work carried out on the electronics of the new e-208 GTi’s motor was only possible thanks to the experience accumulated over recent years. It draws directly on the knowledge gained in motorsport and transfers it from the track to the road. The expertise applied in developing the e-208 GTi is the same we use in developing the 9X8.”

The e-208 GTi uses the same battery pack as the standard e-208, with 54 kWh gross capacity and 51 kWh usable. However, Peugeot has optimised the battery management system, especially the coolant flow strategy, so that it can deliver its full potential consistently in any driving condition. The announced WLTP range is 374 kilometres.

It is worth noting that the e-208 GTi shares its technical base with the Opel Corsa GSE, presented last month. Both models sit on the group’s e-CMP platform, use the same battery and offer identical motor output. This synergy allows the different Stellantis brands to offer electric sporting proposals built on a solid common base.
