The Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 brings back the six-cylinder engine and excites buyers
This new version of the AMG SUV features a new engine that offers 48-volt mild hybridisation and replaces two other variants.

The new Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 is designed to ensure buyers are satisfied with the new engine it features. This variant will replace two versions of the model, which will disappear because the engine it fits replaces the one used by these two. The outgoing engine is a turbocharged four-cylinder unit, in the case of the GLC 63, with a complex plug-in hybrid system.
As for the new engine, it is a turbocharged 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder unit. In this case, it will be supported by a mild hybrid system. The new Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 produces 443 CV and 600 Nm of torque. For short periods, the overboost mode can be used to briefly reach 640 Nm of torque.

In addition, the hybrid system can also provide a little extra push and increase torque to a limited extent. This engine accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds when using launch control. This makes it slightly quicker than the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and also offers a more refined sound. The new exhaust fitted to this variant allows the engine to sound the way one would expect from an AMG of this kind.

The top speed is rated at 250 km/h, although a peak of 270 km/h can be reached if necessary. The transmission is an automatic with nine speeds, sending power to all four wheels. If required, it can send all the power to the rear axle when needed.
This is the first AMG SUV to feature an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential and drift mode. This is included in the AMG Dynamic Plus package, which also adds active engine mounts and red brake calipers.
Another feature is that it is available in two body styles: a GLC SUV with a boxy body and a Coupé Fastback. Prices have yet to be confirmed, but they will rise if buyers opt for the Golden Accents package, which increases the cost because it adds higher-quality and more eye-catching elements.
