The new Ford Fiesta in its 15 key features
The new Ford Fiesta hides 15 features that will help it stay at the top of its success, as well as reach a wider audience, and here we break them down for you

If we asked anyone at Ford what the Fiesta means to the American brand, I think they would not have enough adjectives to describe it. For a specific car model to stay at the top of its success year after year, from its first generation in the late 70s to now, with the imminent arrival of its eighth generation, very few can boast of this, and the Ford Fiesta is in a position to do so.
The Ford Fiesta has always been aimed at young people, at those looking for a segment B car that is easy to drive, fun, and that allows for the occasional trip out of the city. Over the years and generations it has evolved, up to the current generation, with which Ford aims to appeal to different driver profiles and not only those who get around the city.

That is why we detail 15 key features that characterize the eighth generation of the Ford Fiesta, the most representative ones, with small details from different areas:
- Production: The new Ford Fiesta is built at the brand’s plant in the German city of Cologne, from which a new Fiesta rolls off every 68 seconds, with the capacity to produce 20,000 different variants.
- Range: This eighth generation of the Ford Fiesta has become the widest since its launch in 1976, even including a version inspired by the SUV segment called the Fiesta Active, which will go on sale in 2018.
- SUV: Following on from the above, the Fiesta Active will become the first crossover in the Fiesta range: it will have a raised body with five doors, roof bars and additional metal protection.

- Premium: The Ford Fiesta is no longer a simple vehicle, and now, like its bigger siblings, it will also offer the Vignale version, featuring 18-inch alloy wheels with an exclusive design, exclusive finishes and colours, and seats upholstered in leather with a hexagonal pattern.
- Sound system: A powerful sound system signed by none other than Bang & Olufsen can be fitted. This 675-watt system consists of 10 speakers, a nine-channel amplifier, a speaker in the centre console, a 200 mm subwoofer, and surround sound for a 360º experience.
- Technology: It can be equipped with two cameras, three radars and twelve ultrasonic sensors, capable of monitoring the car through 360º and up to 130 metres ahead. Thanks to this, it incorporates 15 cutting-edge technology systems, ranging from pedestrian or sign detection to locating parking spaces or performing parking manoeuvres.
- Connectivity: It features the latest evolution of the SYNC 3 system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Bluetooth, two USB ports, CD player and DAB radio. It also supports voice and conversational commands.

- Tablet: It comes with a floating 4.2 and 6.5-inch touchscreen combined with MyFord Dock, the latter for holding and charging mobile devices and navigation systems. We can also fit it with a floating 8-inch touchscreen, inspired by tablets.
- Leather: If you opt for leather upholstery and steering wheel, you can be sure of their durability, as they have been designed to withstand the worst possible treatment.
- Reliability: We always associate this feature with mechanical parts, which is also expected of the new Fiesta, but in this case we must extend it to its seats too. A robot has ensured that our comfort is just as good as on day one, sitting down no fewer than 25,000 times to guarantee its longevity.
- Fun: The new Ford Fiesta has also been designed to make driving as enjoyable as possible, equipped, for example, with technology that slightly activates the brakes on the wheels on the inside of the bend to achieve more precise turns. In addition, the new suspension and Torque Vectoring Control improve cornering grip by 10%, while the new brakes reduce stopping distance by 8%.

- Safety: The new Fiesta is the first Ford to use the new Finite Element Analysis technology to carry out computer-simulated crash tests, which helps optimise the airbags and chassis reinforcements.
- EcoBoost: Its 1,000 cc engines with EcoBoost technology are three-cylinder units with outputs of 100, 125 and 140 CV, which can be paired with a new six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic gearbox, the latter for the 100 CV variant with steering-wheel paddles. For the Ford Fiesta ST the displacement is increased to 1,500 cc and its power to 200 CV.
- Efficiency: The new Auto Start-Stop system, the active grille for the 1.0 petrol and 1.5 diesel engines, and other elements such as the reinforced underbody help improve its consumption and emissions.
- Bonus: Closing the doors of the new Ford Fiesta will take 20% less effort, all thanks to the fitting of more powerful air extractors.
