911 Porsche Convertibles Sports Cars
The new Porsche 911 Cabriolet is here and is now available in Spain
Following the arrival of the new 911 Carrera S and Carrera 4S Coupé, the model now also comes in its Cabriolet version, already available to order in Spain

The legendary 911 saga from Porsche ended 2018 in grand style with the arrival of the eighth generation following its unveiling at the Los Angeles Motor Show. This new generation keeps the spirit that has made the 911 one of the most desirable sports cars, enhanced with new modern components and technologies such as the introduction of the Wet driving mode, which helps prevent aquaplaning.
Once the model was unveiled, sales of the Carrera S and Carrera 4S began with an engine that, for this new generation, delivers 30 CV more than the outgoing generation. More versions are expected to be added gradually, and the X-Tomi Design study already gave us a small preview of how they imagined the Cabriolet, Speedster and GT3 RS versions.

But we no longer have to wait to see what these versions will look like, at least as far as the Cabriolet is concerned, since Porsche is beginning sales in Spain of the Carrera S and Carrera 4S Cabriolet, a variant that has been part of the 911 family almost continuously since 1982, when it was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show. As you would imagine, the Cabriolet versions incorporate all the latest design and technology developments we have already told you about for the Coupé.
Focusing on the Carrera S and Carrera 4S Cabriolet, compared with its predecessor, the new generation has better dynamic behaviour thanks to a more rigid chassis. In addition, for the first time on a 911 Cabriolet, the sport chassis Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is available, using shorter, firmer springs, stiffer anti-roll bars, and a chassis height reduced by 10 mm, achieving a better weight distribution and more neutral handling.

There are no aesthetic differences from the Coupé version, except obviously in the roof, where a soft top is used, incorporating the rear window and a structure made of magnesium components, which provides greater rigidity to prevent the roof from deforming when driven at high speeds with it up. It is fully electric, and can be opened or closed while moving as long as you do not exceed 50 km/h, reducing its opening time to just twelve seconds thanks to the new hydraulic system. Once opened, the extendable wind deflector also appears automatically.
Mechanically, we still find the new evolution of the 3.0-litre flat-six engine, which delivers 450 CV and a maximum torque of 530 Nm. Acceleration performance can be enhanced further by fitting the optional Sport Chrono package. As I mentioned earlier, this engine offers more power than its predecessor thanks to improvements in several areas, such as the injection, the turbochargers and the cooling system.
The Porsche dealer network in Spain is already accepting orders at a price of €154,395 for the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet and €163,355 for the 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet.
