The Pagani Huayra Roadster will be lighter than the coupé version

In life there are certain things that are taken for granted, such as water being wet, fire burning and convertibles being heavier than the coupés they are based on. A convertible requires structural reinforcement that considerably increases its weight.

Under this premise, a convertible should never be lighter than its coupé counterpart, right? Well, it seems the new Pagani Huayra Roadster will be the exception that proves the rule. According to Horacio Pagani, owner and founder of the Italian brand, the roadster version of the Italian supercar will be lighter than the Pagani Huayra coupé.

We know from spy photos that the new version will feature new bumpers, a rear splitter, and other fixed aerodynamic elements such as the flaps on the rear lights. In addition, the Huayra Roadster will update the shape and operation of the active aerodynamics both at the rear and front.

How has Pagani managed to reduce the weight of the Huayra Roadster so much?

There is not yet enough data to answer this question, but everything points to the Italian company having used a carbon fibre tub very similar to that of the radical Huayra BC, the model that inspired the roadster version.

Every day we are getting closer to the official unveiling of the new Pagani Huayra Roadster. The supercar will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next March, after the brand had announced its debut at Pebble Beach and this did not happen.
