Urban mobility demands that there be a growing need for cars adapted to getting around the city and that do not pollute. For this reason, brands are preparing models that can fulfil this role, circulate through the streets without polluting and pay attention to the needs of users. Toyota, following this line, has just unveiled the FT-Me electric prototype.

Its intention is to position itself against models such as the Citroën AMI, the FIAT Topolino and the Mobilize Duo, electric quadricycles designed to move freely around the city. This model aims to offer an alternative to these models, so it intends to have features that other models do not have, in order to become an attractive and competitive vehicle.

The exterior design has been carefully crafted to be attractive and understated, yet eye-catching. The pronounced mudguards, contained overhangs and LED headlights provide u a very interesting light signature. The environmental impact has been reduced thanks to the use of recycled materials, with a carbon footprint 90% lower than any other current urban vehicle.

The size will be very compact, as it has a length of 2.5 metres. This will allow it to be parked in places where other cars could not even imagine. The urban environment will be the most suitable place for this model to move around, and the Japanese manufacturer wants to set a standard for electric mobility in the city.

It has two seats, and the passenger seat can be removed to transport cargo, although, of course, in a limited way. The driver will find a rectangular steering wheel, designed so that it can be operated even by people with reduced mobility who need to use a wheelchair. Furthermore, it requires no pedals, since all the controls are within reach of the hand.

In front of the driver, a display for the instrumentation has been placed, which will also feature advanced connectivity so that occupants have everything they need to travel comfortably.

As for range, which is something that concerns users: it is estimated that it will be able to cover about 100 kilometres on a single charge. This figure could be increased by about 20-30 kilometres thanks to the solar panels that will be installed on the roof.

As for engine power, we know that by necessity it cannot exceed 45 km/h and it may be driven without a driving licence. This quadricycle will be available on the market within a few years and its price could be around 10,000 euros, although nothing is yet clear on this matter.
