The Xiaomi SU7 tests show that it exceeds the brand's expectations

Xiaomi’s SUV, which is called the SU7, has been put through its paces across China, and the data obtained has been very positive.

Technology manufacturers are willing to carve out a place in electric mobility, and we have already seen some electric vehicle come out of one of the big electronics companies. Some have backed out, but others are continuing with their projects, such as Xiaomi. The electric car proposed by the Chinese multinational is very close to reaching buyers, and that is why the brand is carrying out the final tests before wrapping up production.

To do so, they have spared no expense. In fact, they have launched 576 units of the car so that they can rack up miles and Xiaomi’s engineers can iron out any problems or defects that may arise. It is expected that all these vehicles will cover a total of more than 5.4 million kilometres across the country.

A test with a very special driver

One of these test vehicles was the one that Xiaomi’s CEO chose to take the wheel of and experience first-hand how the model performs. This is an honour for him and will let him feel at ease once deliveries of the model begin. As a result, he spent a 15-hour day and drove 1,300 kilometres in total.

He was not the only executive to get behind the wheel of one of these electric cars. Several executives have chosen to drive this vehicle and carry out the tests. The whole company has been involved in the development and fine-tuning of the car, so road testing has been part of that.

The test data, as the executive commented on the Chinese social network Weibo, has been very promising. The journey between Beijing and Shanghai is 1,276 kilometres and was completed in about 13 hours, including stops to rest and charge the battery. Two charges were needed, and the average speed for the trip was 100 km/h.

China is a very large country and has served as a testing ground for all these units. From quite rugged terrain and very low temperatures, below -40ºC, to other locations where temperatures exceed 50ºC. They have also driven through mountains at very high altitudes, and in every case they have overcome the challenges set for them.

These test models have a range of 900 kilometres under the CLTC cycle. Their cost is 260,000 euros at current exchange rates, although the price of the final model has not been made public, so we do not know how much they will ask for this car, which has certainly already proven its worth.
