This is the Baojun E200 and it could be a preview of what awaits us in electric mobility
This electric car, developed with the participation of General Motors, is a small electric city car with a range of 210 km, set to launch in China soon

We are hearing more and more that electric cars are going to be the mobility of the future, and we have been waiting for the year 2022 for the electric market to start becoming something serious. We see more and more electric cars, but most of those we see have something in common: they are mid-to-high-end models, they are expensive, and they may not reach all the users they should. An entry level for electric vehicles is needed, one that suits every budget, and the Baojun E200 could be the key to popularising electric cars.
The Baojun E200 is a small, manageable city car. It comes from the partnership between General Motors, SAIC and Wuling, aimed, of course, at the Chinese market. It is the second attempt by this joint venture of the three brands, after the Baojun E100, a similar model that does not offer the same performance levels as this new model. It does not offer big figures, but it is a practical electric car, easy to handle, and one that can be put to work to improve urban mobility.

This Baojun E200 is powered by a battery that, according to the brand, will allow it to run for about 270 kilometres on a single charge, as long as it is driven at a constant speed. If we apply the European driving cycle to this figure, the range is reduced to 210 kilometres. Considering that the Baojun E100 had a range of 155 kilometres and was later updated to 200 kilometres, this is a substantial improvement over the previous electric model.

This is thanks to a new battery technology, which allows more energy to be stored in the same space. The motor and the reduction gear have also been modified, and in the new model it is quieter. Another element that has improved over its predecessor is the air conditioning, and the design, both exterior and interior, has also been changed.
There are no further details beyond the images accompanying this article. We do not know the final dimensions, but it is expected to be roughly the same length as the Baojun E100 and smaller than its American equivalent, the Bolt EV. The brand’s managers expect to sell many units of this model, surpassing the 22,000 cars sold of the Baojun E100. Will this be the solution for electric cars to really start appearing on city streets?
