Volkswagen Golf R Variant Performance 35, a Golf estate with 350 CV

The Wörthersee gathering this year is generating a lot of content around Volkswagen. Just hours ago we officially met the Golf GTI Clubsport S, which arrived with a new Nurburgring lap record under its belt.
Today it’s the Golf Variant’s turn, getting into work mode with this R Performance 35 version, a variant that will not be produced, but which leaves us craving more with its 350 CV.
The Golf Variant is an excellent option for buyers looking for a balance between practicality, image and the typical driving feel of a Golf. Volkswagen has thought of every buyer, offering variants with very different power outputs that can reach up to 300 CV in the case of the R version.
However, the Wörthersee event is the ideal place to present crazy, nonsensical proposals, wild combinations that enhance the image and the aura of myth surrounding the Golf. The apprentices of the German brand have not missed the opportunity, and have pulled off a real “wow” with this prototype, which they have kindly christened the R Variant Performance 35.

It has an interior roof trimmed with LEDs that simulate a starry night sky
Basically, it is a Golf R Variant with a generous dose of extra steroids to offer an even brawnier image. This is handled by a styling package that combines 19-inch wheels with a very eye-catching two-tone paint job. There are other details such as the lowered suspension, the air vents in the bonnet, or the braking system, which is borrowed from the sporty models of Audi, including the four-piston fixed calipers.
Inside, the VW guys have chosen to fit the GTI Clubsport bucket seats in the front seats, and have also created a roof lining similar to that of the current Rolls-Royce, full of LEDs that simulate a starry sky.
However, what cannot be seen is the most important part. The engineers at Volkswagen have tightened the bolts on the 2.0 TSI engine of the Golf R to add horsepower to the stable. In total, this concept delivers no less than 350 CV. It sends that power through a DSG automatic gearbox that puts the force to the ground via a non-permanent all-wheel-drive system, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. Without a doubt, a real temptation for the most hardcore “dads” who, unfortunately, will not be hitting the roads.
