A group of apprentices at Volkswagen has created a prototype based on the VW ID.5 GTX, in which several elements of the bodywork and interior have been replaced.

The Volkswagen ID.5 is already known and we are waiting to see it on our roads. But in addition to the commercial variants, Volkswagen has wanted to let a group of its apprentices get involved, and they have developed a prototype based on this electric SUV. The design team, made up of 14 people who are doing their internships at the company, has created this concept, into which they have poured all their interest, and which is very impressive.

The first thing this concept model suggests is its vaguely military look. The green bodywork helps with this, combining matt and gloss finishes taken from the catalogues of Volkswagen and Lamborghini. The wheels have also been carefully considered, as they are 22-inch alloy wheels. These have a very eye-catching design and a powder-coated finish.

Other bodywork elements have also been replaced to give the concept model its imposing appearance. The wings have been modified, the wheel arches have been widened and the side skirts have been redesigned to offer not only that imposing look, but also better underbody protection.

The interior has also been worked on, and the materials of the regular model have been replaced with Alcantara and vegan materials. These cover almost the entire cabin surface, including the steering column. The upholstery has a honeycomb design, with orange contrast, and embroidered seat backrests set the style of the interior.

The sound system is also new and has been built with components from the brands Gladen, Musway and Bang & Olufsen. According to the manufacturer, it features 10 amplifiers, a subwoofer and offers a total output of 2,000 watts. To give the electric model a more youthful touch, a Teamgee H5 electric scooter has been included. With it, you can get from the car park to your destination without tiring.

As for the drivetrain, it remains the same as in the model it is based on. This means it has an 82 kWh battery pack, which powers a pair of electric motors. These produce a combined output of 220 kW, that is, 295 CV, and a maximum torque of 460 Nm.
