Xiaomi expands the version range of its YU7 electric SUV

With these two new versions, Xiaomi consolidates the YU7 as a versatile product capable of covering different needs in the Chinese electric market and, potentially, internationally.

The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi, until not long ago known only for its consumer electronics products, has just announced the launch of two new versions of its SU7 electric SUV. One of them is an entry-level version, while the second sits at the top of the range.

The first of them is the new True Standard Edition, launched specifically to compete more aggressively on price with the Tesla Model Y.

The most affordable version of the Xiaomi YU7 sold so far in the Chinese market was priced at 253,500 yuan – about 32,000 euros at current exchange rates – the new version now introduced lowers that price to 233,500 yuan – about 29,600 euros. The Chinese manufacturer thus manages to open a gap of around 30,000 yuan over the Model Y, which translates into an approximate saving of 3,800 euros for the customer.

It is cheaper and goes further

In addition to its more competitive price, this version offers greater range and is capable of covering up to 643 kilometres on a single charge under the CLTC homologation cycle. That is, 50 km more than its American rival. It features a single motor of 235 kW on the rear axle, a 73 kWh LFP battery supplied by CATL, and its kerb weight is around 115 kilograms lower than the previous entry-level model in the range, at a total of 2.2 tonnes. These changes aim to improve its appeal in a market as competitive as China’s.

Likewise, the previous standard version has been updated and renamed Long Range Edition, reaching a CLTC range of 835 kilometres.

300 km/h where legal

On the other hand, at the top of the range is now the new YU7 GT, a high-performance version aimed at premium customers. Its price starts at 389,900 yuan – almost 50,000 euros at current exchange rates. This new model incorporates the advanced HyperEngine V8s EVO system, with two electric motors delivering 738 kW. Its extraordinary performance allows it to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in under 3 seconds – 2.92 seconds to be exact – and its top speed is 300 km/h.

The YU7 GT is fitted with a 101.7 kWh battery on an 897-volt architecture platform, which allows it to enjoy ultra-fast 5.2C charging. It offers 705 km of CLTC range and is capable of recovering 520 km at an ultra-fast DC charging point in just 15 minutes.

Xiaomi did not want to miss the opportunity to highlight its excellent sporting behaviour. Equipped with the Track Package, this version recorded a time of 7:22.755 minutes on the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit on 2 April 2026, improving by 14 seconds on the record of the previous top-of-the-range version of this model.
