Aurelia 'Outlaw' European CLS, the luxury restomod limited to just three units
A British customiser has worked to recover and update this competition model, with more power and in an edition of just three units.

Restomods are in fashion, and many companies have specialised in this type of classic car transformation. Among them we find a proposal by Thornley Kelham, which had already presented an earlier project based on the Lancia Aurelia. But it has now focused on a new proposal, more exclusive and powerful, called Aurelia ‘Outla2’ European CLS.
In its original configuration, the Lancia Aurelia offered 120 CV, but once restored and modified, its 3.2-litre V6 engine has increased that power to 300 CV. To achieve this increase, the petrol injection has been improved, with new cylinder heads and other upgrades that raise the engine’s standard.

The previous version of the Aurelia ‘Outlaw’ produced up to 220 CV, and the customiser wants it to be more effective and powerful. To control all that additional power, the model features brakes with a modern configuration, a renewed pedal box, rack-and-pinion steering, a limited-slip differential and modern front and rear suspension. Added to this is a roll cage.

With all this, the weight is kept within a very controlled range, of just 1,100 kg. This variant is based on the Aurelia chassis 1010. This model was driven by Giovanni Bracco in competitions such as the Mille Miglia in 1951. This was followed by other competitions that put the model in the sights of many collectors.
One of the changes the driver made to improve the aerodynamics was to lower the roof height, something the customiser has wanted to recover in this luxury variant. In this case, aluminium panels have been used, reducing the car’s total weight by 75 kg.
Inside, Connolly leather upholstery has been fitted, and there are several options for the front seats. The roof is Alcantara, and there is a steering wheel with a wooden rim. The tuner has spent 5,000 hours shaping this variant, and we do not yet have the price of each of the three units to be built, but we can already imagine it will not be exactly affordable.
