The BMW i4 M50 becomes the new Safety Car of the MotoE World Cup
On 15 August, BMW will unveil the new Safety Car for the MotoE World Cup, the BMW i4 M50, a version that will reach the streets in autumn

When we talk about Safety Cars in Formula 1, it is impossible not to associate them with a brand other than Mercedes, although this season they share the role with Aston Martin, in the same way that if we look at the MotoGP World Championship, we cannot think of any brand other than BMW, a role the Germans have been carrying out for 22 years, and where they also reward the rider with the most pole positions at the end of the season with an M model.
As you may already know, in parallel with the MotoGP World Championship, the MotoE World Cup has been held since 2019, and in its third season a new event will take place on 15 August on the occasion of the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, when BMW will take the opportunity to present the new MotoE Safety Car, since, as it could not be otherwise, it is also the brand in charge of these duties in this electric motorcycle category.

The vehicle the German brand will use on track will logically be electric, and it is a model that is not scheduled to arrive until next autumn, so while it makes its way to our roads, MotoE will be the perfect place to see how it performs. The model in question is the BMW i4 M50, the high-performance electric saloon that will arrive to challenge competitors in the electric premium segment.
The BMW i4 M50 Safety Car does not carry M Performance parts like those used in the MotoGP World Championship, but it will feature a look that will undoubtedly catch the eye: on matte grey paint applied to the bodywork, electric green vinyls have been added, a shade that is also present in the large front grille and the side trim of the front bumper, to which are added details in the colours of BMW M and the emergency lights located on the roof, as well as an interior slightly modified for the various specific controls that the Safety Car drivers need.

Mechanically, we will also find a BMW i4 M50 Safety Car completely standard, although its characteristics undoubtedly make it the ideal vehicle for this job. Let us recall that this version uses two electric motors, one on the front axle and another on the rear, with which BMW has achieved a power output of 544 CV that we will be able to make the most of thanks to the development carried out by BMW M in the specific chassis tuning with the count.
In addition, although we have already had a small preview, thanks to its appearance in MotoE it will be the perfect place to hear the sound of the BMW i4 M50, and indeed as we have already told you BMW partnered with the renowned composer Hans Zimmer to create the perfect soundtrack for a model that arrives to launch a new era of sports vehicles for the Bavarian brand.
