BMW will again deliver more than 100,000 electric vehicles in the third quarter of 2025

BMW is confident that its electrification strategy and the diversification of its range will continue to attract new customers in the quarters still to come, despite growing competition.

The BMW Group continues to consolidate its position in the electric vehicle market as one of its most relevant players, having once again achieved six-figure sales in the third quarter of 2025. Between July and September, the Bavarian company delivered to its customers a total of 102,864 vehicles with fully electric drive systems, a slight decline compared with the same quarter last year, when 103,440 vehicles with this drive system were delivered, but in any case still a very positive figure.

In any case, BMW has also not been able to match the figures achieved in the first half of the year, when 109,516 vehicles were delivered in the first quarter and 111,027 in the second.

The BMW Group, which comprises the brands BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce and BMW Motorrad, maintains annual growth of 10 percent in electric vehicle sales, with a total of 323,447 units sold so far this year. The market share of this type of vehicle in total sales, on the other hand, rose to 17.5 percent in the last quarter.

Additionally, BMW also delivered 48,418 vehicles with plug-in hybrid drive systems in the third quarter of the year, bringing the total number of electrified vehicles to 470,313, 15 percent more than the previous year. Compared with its most direct rival, Mercedes-Benz, BMW doubles its sales of fully electric vehicles and also surpasses the Stuttgart company in sales of plug-in hybrid models, although by a much smaller margin.

And the best is yet to come

The future of the BMW Group in the electric vehicle market also looks promising. During the IAA Mobility 2025, held in Munich last September, the BMW brand presented the new iX3, the first model from the Bavarian company based on the Neue Klasse platform, with which the company intends to mark a before and after.

Designed specifically for electric vehicles, this platform introduces notable innovations such as a new 800-volt architecture, a battery pack with cylindrical cells instead of prismatic ones, and sixth-generation electric drive units. With the Neue Klasse, BMW thus marks a transformational change, committing to vehicles developed from the outset to be electric and exclusively electric, which should give an even greater boost to sales of this type of vehicle in the coming quarters. Time will tell, however, whether this is really the case.
