Bugatti Bolide, the savage hypercar, now has a date to begin production

This 1,600 CV machine, priced at more than 4 million euros, promises to be one of the most exceptional supercars of all time

Bugatti Bolide 2024

Bugatti, the hypercar brand that takes luxury to its ultimate expression, has just announced that it will produce the Bugatti Bolide. As is traditional for the brand, however, the series of these super machines will be limited to just 40 units, so beyond being a beast in performance and price, its exclusivity is no less impressive.

The Bolide is not new to us, since this same model was presented at the end of October 2020, as we told you here. In that article, we explained that the Bugatti Bolide would be a machine with 1,850 CV, a monocoque carbon-fibre chassis and dynamics suited to demonstrating what can be achieved on the basis of the Chiron.

Some changes

Finally, the figures have been somewhat reduced from what we were told at first, as Bugatti has decided to drop the engine of more than 1,800 CV that ran only on 110-octane fuel and instead use one that runs on 98-octane fuel, producing a “modest” 1,600 CV instead.

Obviously, such a beast must have aerodynamics matching the heart it carries, and this Bolide is no exception. Throughout the whole car, it is easy to see that this hypercar resembles a competitor in the WEC more than a conventional supercar, since Bugatti has developed the aerodynamics of this car to provide the maximum possible downforce at high speeds so that, quite literally, the vehicle does not fly.

Radical design

The design of the Bolide is tremendously striking. Part of the credit goes to its sharp front end, its streamlined wheels that improve aerodynamics, its large air intake on the roof to cool the W16, the enormous rear wing more typical of a combat aircraft than a car, and its distinctive rear with four exhaust outlets in the centre, its lights, and its prominent diffuser.

Something that has not changed from what Bugatti first presented is the monocoque carbon-fibre chassis. With this chassis and an interior reduced to the utmost simplicity with the clear and sole aim of cutting weight, the Bolide arrives at a final weight of 1,420 kg.

Engine details

As we have already told you, the engine of this machine will produce 1,600 CV from an 8.0-litre W16 quad-turbo block, and, like its power, 1,600 Nm of torque. In short, a beast that will pose a great challenge to the tyres that must transmit that immense torque to the road.

As you can imagine, this Bolide will not be homologated for road use, since it was not created for that purpose at all. Production will begin in 2024, so until then Bugatti will focus on developing every last detail of this hypercar, of which only 40 units will be produced.
