BYD's Flash super-fast charging in Europe will cost around 60 cents per kWh
BYD is about to take an important step in the European electric mobility market with the launch of its Flash ultra-fast charger network. The Chinese company, which has already achieved strong growth in other markets, is now preparing to begin rolling out this new and revolutionary charging infrastructure across the Old Continent.
The second-generation Flash Chargers stand out for their innovative T-shaped design. Each station has two charging cables that can be connected simultaneously to the same vehicle. Thanks to a rail system, the cables -which are heavier than usual due to the cooling system- can be moved with ease. Their main appeal is power, since they can deliver up to 1,500 kW, enabling ultra-fast charging in BYD vehicles equipped with the second generation of Blade batteries.

During the European debut last April of Denza, BYD’s premium brand, the Chinese company confirmed truly ambitious plans for its new charging infrastructure. BYD plans to install 6,000 Flash stations outside China within the next twelve months, of which 3,000 will be in Europe. These figures represent a remarkable effort by BYD, aiming to compete in a market where charging infrastructure remains a key factor in the adoption of electric vehicles.
Surprising charging power at competitive prices
One point worth highlighting about the Chinese company’s new Flash charging points, beyond their impressive supported charging power, is the price. There is little point in offering charging powers that until recently were unimaginable if the price users must pay is so high that it makes use prohibitive for most of them. BYD is aware of this reality, which is why the Chinese company has set itself the goal of launching the service in Europe with a price per kWh consumed below 60 euro cents. A pricing strategy that is essential to attract new customers in Europe.

Finally, it should be noted that the rollout of BYD’s new Flash charging stations in Europe will follow the successful strategy the company is already implementing in China. According to recent reports, at the end of May BYD already had around 6,100 fast-charging stations in more than 300 cities in the Asian giant. Furthermore, as we already told you here at HighMotor, a recent cooperation agreement with Sinopec, the country’s largest service station network, will allow BYD to accelerate its expansion in its domestic market even further.
