Mazda announces a 30% fuel saving with Skyactiv 2

Mazda offers in its diesel and petrol models a system that includes more fuel-efficient consumption and low emission levels, called Skyactiv, which it has not abandoned despite the advance of hybrid engines on all fronts. But now it previews Skyactiv 2.
The new system will be presented in a few years. Mazda announces that in 2020 the second part of its innovative engine efficiency system will already be presented, achieving a 30% saving in fuel costs compared with what the technology currently offers.
The year 2020 marks the entry into force of new anti-pollution laws, especially in Europe, with a limit of 95 g/km of CO2. For this reason, Mazda is preparing Skyactiv innovations that will be very interesting; it is said that Mazda will not use spark plugs in its engines, in favour of what is called HCCI (homogeneous charge compression ignition), which uses pressure to ignite the mixture, without spark plugs. Another innovation would consist of raising compression up to 18 to 1, from the 14 to 1 that the Skyactive petrol engines currently offer.
As if the 2020 preview were not enough, there is also talk of the arrival of Skyactiv 3, which would bring emission levels down to 65 g/km or less. This technology should arrive in 2025.
In this way, Mazda does not intend to venture into the development of its own hybrid engines, which have so far been replaced with considerable success by Skyactiv engines, based on the traditional diesel and petrol engines but with many technical modifications.
