As expected after the reveal of the new Mercedes-AMG A 45, its platform siblings, tuned by the Affalterbach specialist, have just received the same mechanical and equipment upgrades. The CLA, CLA Shooting Brake and GLA receive no design changes, but they do enhance their competitiveness and reinforce their position as some of the most powerful and fastest models in their respective segments.

As with the A 45, the four-cylinder, two-litre AMG engine gains 21 hp, bringing the final output to 381 hp. The maximum torque increase is identical: from 450 to 475 Nm. Power is delivered through the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

AMG has shortened the gear ratios between third and seventh gear and has incorporated the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT device, inherited from the Mercedes-AMG GT, which includes the “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport+” and “Individual” modes. A fifth mode called “Race”, paired with the AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension, also exists.

These changes translate into better performance without worsening fuel consumption figures. All three models complete the 0 to 100 km/h sprint four tenths faster than before: the CLA 45 does it in 4.2 seconds, the CLA 45 Shooting Brake in 4.3, and the GLA 45 in 4.4. The SUV even reduces fuel consumption by one tenth, now registering 7.4 l/100 km.

The trio shares the optional AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package with the A 45. It costs just over 2,500 euros and includes a lockable front differential and the aforementioned AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension, with two damper stiffness settings that are selected automatically rather than by driver input.

Although Mercedes-Benz has yet to announce prices for Spain, in Germany the prices of the previous versions remain unchanged; in other words: more power for the same price.
