Onvo launches the L80 five-seat electric SUV in the Chinese market
With this model, Onvo reinforces its commitment to spacious, powerful and practical electric SUVs for families, while maintaining an excellent value for money in the competitive Chinese market.
Onvo, the affordable-vehicle brand of Chinese manufacturer NIO, has just launched in its home market what becomes the third model in its electric vehicle range. The new L80 is a generously sized electric SUV positioned as a more practical version of the already well-known L90. Although it shares the same platform and exterior dimensions, the L80 removes the third row of seats to offer greater comfort and space for the occupants of its two main rows.
At 5,145 mm long, 2 metres wide and 1.77 metres high, this new model stands out for its interior space. By eliminating the rear row, it gains generous legroom and a 1,200-litre boot in normal configuration, which expands to 2,600 litres when the seats are folded. Adding the 240-litre front trunk, it reaches a total of 2,840 litres, one of the largest storage volumes among SUVs on sale in the Chinese market.

Designed especially for family trips and camping getaways, the L80 includes practical details such as a 30-litre refrigerator in the rear and up to 53 storage compartments spread throughout the cabin. Its interior conveys a premium and classy feel.
Key data
As for its technical specifications, the new L80 is available in two versions: a rear-wheel-drive model with 340 kW of power that accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, and an all-wheel-drive model with 440 kW that completes the same sprint in 4.7 seconds. Both versions feature an 85 kWh battery pack that provides a CLTC range of up to 605 km in the rear-wheel-drive version and 570 km in the higher one.
One of the L80’s great attractions is charging. Thanks to its 900-volt architecture, it supports DC power of up to 600 kW, which allows around 250 km of range to be recovered in just five minutes. It is also compatible with the battery-swap station network of NIO, which already exceeds 2,500 installations in China.

In autonomous driving technology, Onvo maintains its dual strategy: a higher version with LiDAR and its own Shenji NX9031 chip alongside the NIO World Model software, and a more affordable one equipped only with cameras for this function, using the Nvidia Orin X chip. This flexibility allows the Chinese manufacturer to adapt to different budgets and needs.

The Onvo L80 is already on sale in China, with first deliveries about to begin following its recent presentation at the Beijing Auto Show. Its price in this Asian country starts at 156,800 yuan – just under 20,000 euros – if the customer opts for battery rental with a monthly fee, or from 242,800 yuan – under 31,000 euros – if purchased including the battery.
