Peugeot presents the new 508
The facelift the French saloon will receive this year gives it a design more in tune with the latest launches from the brand. Inside, the new touchscreen on the dashboard stands out, while the engine range is renewed with less polluting options.

This year, the Peugeot 508 will once again be one of the most important new arrivals at the Paris Motor Show. If four years ago the model debuted as the replacement for the 407 and 607, in 2014 it is the turn of the facelift. Although time has not been overly unkind to the French saloon, an update was becoming necessary if it wanted to remain competitive, even though the D segment is not going through its best moment in Europe.
The new 508 features a front end that is very different from the previous one, giving it a more robust look, although without the personality that characterised the earlier version. The front headlights, 100 % LED, share the slit in the central part and the darkened finish with other current products from the brand.

The grille moves even further away from that of the first 508. It can be seen that the chrome outline no longer extends down below the number plate space but instead stops above it, and it also gains thickness and a couple of corners. The lion has moved from the bonnet to the centre of the grille, in imitation of the 504 and 505. The bumper also sees changes that bring it closer to the design of the latest launches from Peugeot.
The rear has only been modified on the 508 saloon, whose tail lights receive lenses with a different colouring reminiscent of the new 3008. The absence of the chrome strip on the boot lid also stands out, along with the more prominent bumper and the new chrome strips on its lower section.

Regarding the cabin, the 508’s dashboard features a new seven-inch touchscreen where the main functions are located. Thanks to it, the number of buttons has been reduced on the centre console, which has made it possible to introduce a new compartment with a lid for storing items between the front seats.
The engine range is updated with the arrival of the 1.6 THP with 165 hp and Start&Stop system, combined with a six-speed manual gearbox, replacing the 156 hp equivalent, and the 2.0 BlueHDi with 150 hp, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, and 180 hp, in this case with a six-speed automatic, which complete the range at the top.

All of them offer CO2 emissions per kilometre much lower than the versions they replace: 129 g/km for the 1.6 THP 165, 105 g/km for the 2.0 BlueHDi 150 and 111 g/km for the 2.0 BlueHDi 180, the latter two regardless of bodywork. The HYbrid4 hybrid system remains unchanged for the 508 saloon and the RXH, with a maximum output of 200 hp, an average consumption of 3.3 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 85 g/km.
Peugeot has enhanced the 508’s technology equipment with a rear-view camera, whose images appear on the new dashboard touchscreen, blind-spot monitoring and the services offered by the Peugeot Connected Apps over mobile internet, such as traffic information, a free parking space locator or the Coyote app.

The new Peugeot 508 will first be presented in August simultaneously at the motor shows in Moscow and Chengdu. Its sale in Europe will begin on 10 September, a few weeks before the public can see it in Paris during the first weeks of October.
