Philippe Varin at risk of being dismissed by the Peugeot family

The chairman of Peugeot, Philippe Varin, has his position at risk due to the constant doubts of the Peugeot family about the company’s situation.
Although the current chairman of Peugeot, Philippe Varin, has been in the post for almost three years, some recent events are weakening his position within the group, causing discontent within the Peugeot family, which is reportedly looking for a replacement. The Peugeot family’s criticism is based, in its view, on two major problems at the brand: a poor strategy and the alliance with the American company General Motors.
The powerful Peugeot family, holding 25.2% of the capital and 37.9% of the voting rights, is also unhappy with the company’s management team. However, they have not yet managed to find a replacement, either for the chairman’s position or for a place on the management team.
At the root of all this is the European crisis, which does not allow Peugeot to renew its products in time or to compete with the models of its partner Citroën, or with the Renault. The situation of several brand chairmen, whose positions would have been untouchable a few years ago, is a current reflection of the European industry hit by the crisis. As for GM, the agreement with the American brand has been seen as a waste of resources, devoted to a company whose European operations are chronically loss-making and which has structurally oversized industrial capacity.
At the same time, the Peugeot family will have to tread carefully, since according to the French press, the dismissal of Varin could send a bad signal to the American partners, who now hold 7% of the brand.

Es reemplazo no reemplazante…. La cosa pinta mal para PSA…
Hola chouri, efectivamente no sólo para el grupo PSA, sino también para Renault que está en la cuerda floja. Parece que Francia ya ha llegado a un peligroso límite económico; hasta ahora su economía había aguantado.
Por otro lado, reemplazante es correcto según el diccionario de la RAE.

Tienes razón en las dos cosas. Efectivamente reemplazante está bien empleado. Perdón por la metedura de pata. Los grupos franceses hace tiempo que no compiten con fuerza en la parte más alta del mercado que es la que da más dinero. Y las alemanas han bajado a los segmentos que dominaban los franceses y además los coreanos también les sacan una parte importante de mercado en sus segmentos de mayor tradición. Y les falta presencia en muchos mercados importantes. ¿Cómo es posible que los coreanos hayan entrado en el mercado americano empezando de cero y los franceses no?
No es un problema de crisis en Francia, sinó de la mala gestión de Philippe VARIN . En Francia la crisis se nota poco como pasa en Alemania o Reino Unido, pero se nota, y se nota en toda Europa, lo que es igual a una bajada de ventas.
Philippe VARIN ha tenido la brillante ocurrencia de sacar una gama DS para Citroën, por encima de precios que los Citroën normales, en plena crisis Europea, lo que hace que ésos modelos sean poco rentables o generen pérdidas.
La gama de Peugeot actual puede competir con las de Citroën y Renault, de hecho venden más que Citroën e incluso más que Renault mundialmente, la que veo con una gama por detrás es Renault.
