Porsche Cayenne 2024: the sporty SUV, now with more power
The German brand Porsche announces the presentation of the facelift of its iconic Cayenne model at the Shanghai Auto Show, with a new design and the latest integrated technology

Since its launch in 2002, the Porsche Cayenne has been a benchmark in the world of luxury SUVs. And now, with the arrival of the new model, the German brand has raised the bar even higher. The company, headquartered in Stuttgart, has finally unveiled the facelift of the famous Cayenne model at the Shanghai Auto Show.
The third generation of this model hit the market in 2018 and, until now, the company has been focused on giving the iconic SUV a facelift. The facelift brings important new features and a refreshed exterior. The fourth generation of the model will already be 100% electric, and it is expected to be available from 2025.
As Michael Schätzle, Vice President of the Cayenne Range states, “This is one of the most extensive product updates in the history of Porsche.” This is due to the nearly six years the company has invested in the facelift of this model.
Starting with the exterior, the Cayenne has undergone a significant change at the front, giving it the same sporty touch shown by the Taycan. The SUV features HD Matrix LED headlights and the Porsche Driver Experience control system, which offers the driver a comfortable and exciting experience.
Technology for greater driving comfort
With the Porsche Driver Experience control system, the company focuses on driver comfort by placing all functions on the steering wheel or as close to the driver as possible. A good example is the automatic gearbox selector, which in this model is located on the dashboard, freeing up more space for the console, the storage compartment or the air conditioning, giving the interior a more refined feel.

The dashboard has been completely redesigned and features three screens, with the curved instrument cluster extended up to 12.6 inches. It also integrates a 12.3-inch central touchscreen for the multimedia system and, a third 10.3-inch screen , offering the front passenger information and entertainment functions.
Another standout element that helps Porsche maintain its position as an innovator in the sector is the air quality system, which activates and deactivates air circulation depending on conditions and includes an ionizer that removes harmful substances such as bacteria and germs.
The German brand has introduced new driver assistance systems that deliver improved performance. It includes an active speed limiter, which helps control the vehicle’s speed, a lane change assistant that makes changing lanes easier, and the “InnoDrive” system, which enables evasive manoeuvres.
Refreshed exterior and cutting-edge lighting technology
One of the most noticeable changes when looking at the new model is the new HD Matrix LED headlights, which, together with the new front grille and the redesigned air intake, make the nose appear wider and give it a more aggressive and powerful look. The Matrix LED headlights are designed to enhance comfort in different situations and feature 32,000 pixels per headlight, offering unique and precise visibility.

At the rear, however, the aim is to give a more sophisticated touch: the bumper has been modified to make way for embossed rear light clusters, which span the full width of the tailgate and place the number plate in the bumper.
Several wheel options are available, with a choice of various 20-, 21- and 22-inch alloy designs, and a new palette offering three new colours.
Three engine options
The company has made updates in this facelift. All versions of the Cayenne will feature the PASM system, with a steel spring suspension and new 2-valve damping, which provide agility and comfort on winding or uneven roads. The new engine range includes two petrol models and one PHEV version.
In the Porsche Cayenne S version, there is an improved version of the 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which replaces the previous V6. With a maximum output of 474 hp and 600 Nm of torque, both SUV models can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 273 km/h.
The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid features a six-cylinder engine, which raises the total output to 470 CV (346 kW). With an improved high-voltage battery, which can have a capacity of up to 25.9 kWh, the vehicle offers an electric range of up to 90 kilometres and can be charged in under two and a half hours thanks to the new 11 kW on-board charger.
The latest version is the GT Turbo, which unfortunately will not be sold in Europe but will be available in other markets, leaving the brand slightly behind its main competitors such as the Ferrari Purosangue or the Lamborghini Urus.
