The BMW Serie 3 is being tuned in Miramas: ready to reach the market

We have already seen the BMW Serie 3 electric, but we are still waiting to finally see the combustion-engine variant. The BMW Serie 3 will use highly efficient four- and six-cylinder engines, which are also equipped with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. All variants of the BMW Serie 3 build on the model’s successful history over the years, so the legacy endures and even grows with each generation launched on the market.

The combustion-engine versions also sport the new look of Neue Klasse, so that legacy is combined with the most modern and imposing that the German brand can offer. The styling of this new iteration of the Serie 3 rests on an evolution of the characteristic front of the BMW.

The 2.5-volume design is faithful to what the BMW sports saloons offer, with decorative details that set apart the electric versions from those using combustion engines. And the on-board technology is also based on the new Neue Klasse line.

In the cabin there is a central screen running the BMW Operating System X, which powers the BMW Panoramic iDrive to offer a new, driver-focused approach and user interaction. To wrap up the testing, the BMW M350 xDrive has been tuned on the circuit to show everything it is capable of.

The top of the Serie 3 range will feature a six-cylinder 3.0-litre engine, with 48-volt mild hybridisation. This improves engine performance, and comes with an eight-speed BMW Steptronic automatic gearbox. Power is rated at 443 CV and maximum torque is 580 Nm. Top speed is 250 km/h and it reaches 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.

All variants will come with an intelligent, high-performance driving dynamics management system. Each powertrain also has a specific setting to achieve maximum efficiency across all components. There is the “My Mode Efficient” mode, which improves efficiency and increases range, and the “Efficiency Coach“, which gives the driver tips to improve driving style and save energy while driving.

The “BMW Drift Moment” is another of the model’s features. This system is activated via a command on the central screen and allows all the power to be sent to the rear axle. This mode is designed to enjoy the drift, so it is not a mode that will be used much on the road. This system will be available throughout 2027, although cars sold earlier will also be able to enjoy it via a software update.
