The Corvette Stingray showcases its incredible fully digital instrument cluster

GM has pulled out all the stops with the Corvette Stingray in many respects. And it could not be otherwise with the return of a legendary model in the history of the American company. However, GM has not followed the trend of the Mustang and the Camaro to put retro ahead of modern, but quite the opposite. It has given technology a pivotal role.
A good example of this is the spectacular fully digital, fully configurable instrument cluster, which changes as the engine’s internal conditions (such as temperature) vary or according to the driving mode we have selected. The amount of data the instruments display is so large that we would need a good while to devote our full attention to them, apart from the surprise of the first few moments.
The first “theme” of the Corvette Stingray is Tour, the most relaxed driving mode. In this theme, the dashboard shows information that is not so vital for the car, but is important for the driver: navigation, infotainment (the names of the music tracks appear in the middle of the instrument cluster), communications, fuel economy and consumption.
Switching to Sport mode, things change, as the instruments are replaced by others better focused on performance. For example, the tachometer’s “halo” turns redder as we approach the red zone of the rev range; in turn, the red zone varies according to the engine’s current temperature and includes a G-force meter.
If we drive in Track mode, the data displayed will relate to performance and lap timing: split times, best lap, previous lap, and so on. The tachometer changes appearance and a tyre temperature warning can also be seen. We also get a stopwatch to measure acceleration, not only from a standstill but from several programmable starting speeds. To complete and complement the digital tachometer in Track mode, we get the shift lights already seen on single-seaters such as F1 cars.
In total, the new Corvette’s instrumentation offers 69 different data points. Let’s see it in action in the video we offer below, while we wait for it to arrive in Spain next autumn.
