The compact from Citroën’s premium division Citroën continues to update itself this 2015 with new developments affecting the engine range and equipment. Shortly before the end of 2014, the DS 4’s engine range was updated with the BlueHDi 120 hp and the PureTech e-THP in its 130 hp version. Over the next four months, the top of the range will be renewed with three options, all equally compliant with the Euro 6 emissions standard.

The only petrol unit will be the new THP 165 hp, with 240 Nm of maximum torque, replacing the previous 160 hp version. It comes as standard with automatic engine stop-start and is combined with the six-speed EAT6 automatic gearbox. In this configuration, the DS 4 consumes 5.5 l/100 km on the combined cycle (29% less than before) and emits 130 g/km of CO2.

The pair of new BlueHDi diesel engines offered with the DS 4 consists of one with 150 hp and another with 180 hp. The first, which replaces the 135 hp HDi, is paired with a six-speed manual transmission and delivers 50 Nm more torque than the previous engine. With this BlueHDi, the DS 4 consumes 3.9 l/100 km and emits 100 g/km of CO2.

The second will be the most powerful diesel available for the DS 4. It produces a substantial 400 Nm of torque and is paired exclusively with the aforementioned EAT6 gearbox, achieving consumption of 4.3 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 113 g/km.

The DS 4’s equipment is expanded again with two features that are increasingly common across most segments. On one hand there is the keyless engine access and start system (HFAS). It only requires the key to be within two metres of the car for the technology to activate these functions automatically. The compact also features a new seven-inch touchscreen for the navigation system, in the style of electronic tablets.
