The European Commission has published a new list of recalls. This time, five models are affected for various reasons. In the case of the Toyota the problem is more serious as it affects the braking system, while in the case of the Audi and Cupra it is due to a fault in the quality of the fuses. These are this week’s new recalls.

The Toyota Camry is subject to a recall due to a serious problem related to the vacuum pump of the braking system. This issue affects units manufactured between 6 July 2017 and 27 February 2018. The company’s recovery code is 21SMD-088 and the risk is of injury.

As the European Commission itself states, the recall of the Toyota Camry is “due to the material used, the caps inside the vacuum pump may wear out prematurely and could become stuck. As a result, the caps may damage other components inside the pump, by not supplying vacuum to the braking system. As a result, braking performance could suddenly be reduced without warning, increasing the risk of an accident”.

Cupra and Audi have also been recalled

The Cupra Formentor and the Cupra León manufactured between 10 October 2020 and 28 February 2022 have been recalled under recovery code 93N9 due to fire risk. The European Commission has stated that “a defective fuse may cause a short circuit and cause a fire. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the type-approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, as well as of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles”.

The Audi A3 e-Tron and the Audi Q3 e-Tron manufactured between 7 January 2020 and 22 February 2022 have been recalled under recovery code 93N8 with the risk of fire and injury. As the European Commission itself states, “the fuse in the high-voltage (HV) system may have been produced with an insufficient amount of materials. In the event of a short circuit in the high-voltage system, a short circuit could occur inside the vehicle and subsequently pose a risk of fire and injury. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the type-approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, as well as of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles”.
