The Ford Puma has just arrived and people are already imagining ST and RS variants: let the war begin!

X-Tomi Design has once again played with our emotions by bringing to life the Puma RS and ST, two possible variants of the latest SUV from the American brand.

Ford Puma Rs St 02

The concept of a sporty SUV should no longer surprise us nor make us throw our hands up in horror, however much of a petrolhead we are. Vehicles such as the Lamborghini Urus or the Porsche Cayenne bear witness to the fact that this marriage is not far-fetched, but what would happen if vehicles with the character of the new Ford Puma tried to prove it? The oval-badged brand wanted to revive a legendary name alongside an innovative concept, and features that hint at a rather sporty dynamic have fired the imagination of designer X-Tomi Design, who has already shaped, in his own way, the hypothetical Puma ST and Puma RS. Tempting, right?

Sportiness has always been part of the American brand’s DNA, as vehicles such as the Mustang or the Fiesta ST attest. With this context and history, it would not be surprising if Ford ventured to give life to a Puma with some radical touches, or without them, simply endowing its new SUV with the ability to outperform its main rivals and even a hot hatchback or two.

To create the styling of these two hypothetical variants of the newly arrived SUV, X-Tomi has drawn on features of the previous Focus RS and the current ST. In this way, the Ford DNA remains intact despite these being two renders, making the designer’s interpretation even more realistic.

Ford Puma Rs St 01

In the case of the Puma RS, we find lines that are very pronounced, far more aggressive and striking. This is achieved thanks to a honeycomb-style grille finished in black and a bumper in which two prominent air intakes hint at the level of performance it could deliver. The wheels, whose design is inherited from the Focus, create the same effect, lending it an air of bad boy.

The effect on the ST variant is very similar, except that the whole looks softer and cleaner. On this occasion, features have been taken from the current Focus ST, which manages to anticipate some of the sportiness and punch that the next RS will offer. The mechanical side forces us to make certain assumptions, but it would not be absurd to consider that a turbocharged four-cylinder engine could be responsible for delivering 280 CV in the more “modest” ST and a figure close to 400 CV in the RS.

The new Puma has arrived with considerable force by using a name that, in its day, gave life to a small coupé, a segment closer to sportiness. However, the idea of this SUV with certain performance credentials is not to be dismissed. What separates us from both variants? That, for the time being, they are merely the product of imagination.
