The future Honda e promises 150 CV of power, rear-wheel drive and plenty of fun
The official presentation of the Honda e is getting closer, and little by little it is revealing its features, which promise a great deal of fun

Many eyes are on the future Honda e. Proof of this is the more than 25,000 people who have already filled in the application to get hold of this city car when production begins. Although after the new details revealed by Honda, the city car label can only be applied to its dimensions, as it will undoubtedly be a vehicle that offers plenty of satisfaction to its owners, and interest will surely keep growing.
The Honda e will be the brand’s first fully electric vehicle, with a retro-styled design that captivated us from its debut as a prototype, developed to move like a fish in water through city streets without producing emissions. It also aims to combine other characteristics such as efficiency, performance and dynamics, which will translate into a car that is undoubtedly fun to drive and will raise the bar in the electric compact segment.

Under the skin of the Honda e we will find an electric motor delivering 150 CV (approximately 110 kW) with a strong torque figure of 300 Nm, sent to the rear wheels. This motor is paired with a compact 35.5 kWh battery which, according to the brand, will offer a range exceeding 200 km, making it the perfect companion for city driving and medium-distance journeys. This battery can be charged to 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes using a fast charger, and it is positioned low down to reduce the vehicle’s centre of gravity to just 50 cm from the ground.
The low centre of gravity, combined with its rigid structure, allows the Honda e to deal with body roll without needing a stiff suspension, instead using independent McPherson-type suspension on all four wheels, a design found on larger-segment vehicles. Thanks to this, the turning circle of the Honda e is approximately 4.3 metres, and it is extremely agile when changing direction, especially once a certain speed is exceeded.

The brand has also confirmed that the Honda e will use the one-pedal control system, with which the driver can both accelerate and brake using only the accelerator pedal. In this way, when we press the pedal the Honda e accelerates as we have always seen, but when we release the accelerator pedal the automatic regenerative braking kicks in, which, in addition to reducing the vehicle’s speed, also recovers energy and increases its range.
But all these sensations of a fun and light vehicle can be enhanced by testing its rigid yet light chassis, as well as through the specific adjustments for the suspension and steering. To do so, you only need to select the Sport mode that the Honda e includes, with which you can make the most of the points above thanks to a more immediate throttle response.
