Jaguar has announced for Spain the second model in the Jaguar range of high-performance R-S models, the Jaguar XFR-S, which now joins its sibling, the XKR-S. The XFR-S incorporates technical features from both the XKR-S and the new two-seater F-TYPE sports car, and is the latest vehicle developed by the ETO division, the specialist in Jaguar Land Rover. The division is responsible for improving the Jaguar and Land Rover brands, with a series of special edition models, as well as a range of individualisation options.

Like any Jaguar, the first thing that catches the eye is everything related to the engine. The power and torque of the supercharged 5.0 V8 engine have risen to 550 horsepower, 40 CV more than the XFR model, without affecting consumption or emissions. It features a 8-speed Quickshift gearbox, with an active electronic differential and dynamic stability control recalibrated to improve its behaviour, as well as interior changes, with improvements in the quality and quantity of the carbon fibre used, seat leather, and attention to small details such as stitching and micro-piping.

Among the aerodynamic changes that the British brand will offer with this exclusive Jaguar XFR-S are more pronounced side diffusers and exclusive aero-blades to improve airflow to the sides and underneath the car. The rear diffuser is now positioned lower and a small spoiler has been added above the boot.

To obtain those 40 additional horsepower from the V8 engine, the front air intakes are now larger and positioned lower, in the bumper; this way, the engine receives a greater airflow. The intake also features a system that channels part of the intake sound into the cabin, adding an exciting touch to the driving experience of the XFR-S. The result is not long in coming, as Jaguar announces an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h.

The Quickshift gearbox features several operating modes that are electronically managed and which can anticipate the driver’s driving habits. In this way, when automatic mode is used, the transmission can detect the driving style by monitoring acceleration, braking, cornering forces, the movements of the brake and accelerator pedals, the road gradient, and the acceleration demands.

If a more dynamic driving style is detected, the transmission will automatically make more aggressive shifts and upshift at a higher engine speed. It is also able to detect when the vehicle is approaching a bend, and then the transmission maintains the appropriate gear for exiting it. The transmission even recognises when successive overtaking manoeuvres are being performed that require rapid changes in throttle position and, instead of upshifting, retains a lower ratio to be ready for the next acceleration demand.

The new Jaguar XFR-S is now available in Spain for ordering at a price of 126,202 euros. The first units for customers who have ordered in advance will arrive from October of this year.
