The most radical Lexus RC yet, with a new aerodynamic kit thanks to the TRD department

The Lexus RC has just received a new aerodynamic kit, which improves the look of the Japanese sports car with a more aggressive and imposing spirit.

Among today’s sports cars there are a great many options, designed to satisfy each and every one of the needs of enthusiasts of this segment. Among them is the Lexus RC, a model capable of offering both comfort and sportiness thanks to its engines. However, the Toyota Racing Development (TRD) department has wanted to enhance the styling of its quintessential sports car without resorting to the more radical F-badged variant, which will allow its customers to improve both the handling and the external appearance of their standard Lexus RC.

For the moment, these modifications will only be available in Japan, with the possibility that American customers may also gain access to them in the not too distant future. In this way, the Japanese manufacturer has managed to satisfy the needs of all those customers who wanted to give free rein to a more radical side of the RC, a model that in its more modest versions does not come with these components as standard.

TRD has managed to apply a more aggressive look to the Lexus sports car, without breaking with the characteristic elegance of the model. On the one hand, we can see changes on all sides of the RC, with the front and rear being the most striking areas after the appropriate modifications. The new front splitter and the side air intakes exaggerate the new character of the Lexus RC, as do the wing mirrors, which adopt a new, more sporty and aerodynamic shape.

The side features a new skirt finished in black to create an attractive contrast with the paintwork and, at the same time, to further extend this new, more aggressive spirit. The rear is another area where Lexus and TRD have placed greater emphasis, seeking to mark clear differences from the standard RC. A new diffuser houses four exhaust outlets, which aim to enhance the pleasing sound of the Japanese sports car. At the same time, we find a small carbon-fibre spoiler at the rear of the boot, which serves as the final touch of this new kit alongside 19-inch wheels.

Mechanically there are no differences, since TRD has not chosen to modify the RC’s engine. However, we do find an improvement in the suspension, seeking to offer firmer handling, with the aim of achieving a sportier drive to match the enhanced styling of the Lexus RC.

For now this kit will be applicable to Lexus RC models in F Sport trim and, as we have already mentioned, will only be available for the Japanese market. In this way, the Japanese manufacturer reaffirms its clear intention to build sports cars and supercars, something it also demonstrated with the camouflaged prototype of the Lexus LFA running at the Nürburgring a few weeks ago.
