The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is now being presented with combustion engines for its saloon and estate versions
Following its April presentation of the EV variant, Mercedes-Benz now announces the new C-Class with combustion engines, featuring interesting updates to the diesel range

Last April, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the new C-Class following today’s premises, that is, announcing the arrival of a new model or generation in which electric powertrains come first to market as a bet on introducing this technology. Now, a few months later, Mercedes-Benz presents the new C-Class with its combustion engines for both the saloon and the estate body styles.
The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class shows no major differences from the electric versions in terms of design, with the main ones found at the front. It is in this area that we find a new grille with a clearly vertical orientation and a unique three-dimensional depth provided by the stamped stars with a chrome finish. This striking grille is framed by a chrome surround that in turn lights up thanks to the LEDs integrated into it, and depending on the market, the central star itself will also illuminate.

We won’t leave the front area, as we must also highlight the use of a black panel that serves as a link between the grille and the headlights, creating a sense of continuity. The headlights, of new design by the way, bring a new light signature, especially the daytime running lights, which feature a star design, while the saloon’s rear also adopts a star design.

Overall, the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is announced with new bumpers intended to accentuate a sporty character in its bodywork, which also receives gloss black and chrome inserts to emphasise details and the vehicle’s width. Future owners will be able to choose, in addition to the new 18-inch wheel, other wheel options from 17 to 19 inches, as well as two new AMG wheels in 19 inches. Notably, for the first time on the C-Class it will also be possible to choose the AMG Line Plus trim, which includes, in addition to the Night package, gloss black trim pieces and exhaust outlets, or sports seats with red contrast stitching.

Moving to the interior, the combustion-engined Mercedes-Benz C-Class also adopts the design and new technology we already saw in the electric versions, with elements such as the 12.3-inch instrument cluster or the 11.9-inch vertical central touchscreen, which form part of the fourth generation of MBUX running on MB.OS and integrate artificial intelligence, as well as other features aimed at entertainment, such as the Burmester 3D Surround sound system with Dolby Atmos, 15 speakers and a 710-watt amplifier. All of this is complemented by a greater capacity for personalisation thanks to new upholstery colours and new decorative elements, not to mention a spacious interior where the C-Class Estate stands out for a boot of 490 litres that expands up to 1,510 litres with the rear seats folded down.

Moving on to the mechanical side, the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class will cover the needs of any petrol driver with its combustion engines, led by the four-cylinder M 254 EVO 2.0-litre engine with mild-hybrid technology and three power levels, starting with the C 200 with 177 CV and 270 Nm, moving to the C 250 with 218 CV and 320 Nm, and finishing with the C 300 with 258 CV and 400 Nm. Still on petrol, those who prefer to move into electrification can choose the plug-in hybrid C 400 e, with an output of 395 CV and 650 Nm together with a 19.53 kWh battery that allows it to exceed 100 kilometres of fully electric range, and which can be charged at up to 11 kW at AC charging points, such as a domestic wallbox, and at up to 55 kW at public DC fast-charging stations.
The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class will also continue to offer diesel engines for those who like to cover big distances and enjoy long ranges, and note that the four-cylinder diesel (OM 654 EVO) will also be compatible with the HVO100, B10 and B20 biofuels. This diesel engine can be chosen in two power levels, of 163 CV or 200 CV.
