The Polestar 3 has received a fairly substantial update and the Polestar 4 a somewhat more superficial one, but both are already on sale in Spain

Polestar has introduced interesting new features to its Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 models with the aim of reinforcing their performance through increased capabilities and, in addition, refining an already attractive and eye-catching design. Both models, with their respective updates, are now available to order in Spain, but before that, let’s see what’s new.

What’s new on the Polestar 3

Polestar 3 (1)

The Polestar 3 is the brand’s flagship SUV, and the brand wants to keep that status by improving it further. To do so, the Swedish brand introduces an 800-volt electrical architecture, which now allows charging with a maximum charging power of up to 350 kW. This translates into a 35% improvement over the previous system, meaning that under optimal conditions it takes only 22 minutes to go from 10% to 80%.

Battery charging performance is further optimised by the Breathe Charge software, which continuously monitors the state of the battery in real time and dynamically adjusts the charging speed to maximise fast-charging performance in any condition, while, of course, protecting battery integrity for long-term health. As a result, charging is faster and more consistent, with the possibility of increasing range by up to 38% in a 10-minute fast charge compared with systems that do not use Breathe Charge.

But the performance improvements of the Polestar 3 don’t stop there: all versions now fit a new rear permanent-magnet synchronous motor, which is combined with a front asynchronous motor in the Dual motor versions. As a result, in the Performance versions, for example, the combined power reaches 500 kW (680 CV). In daily driving, with efficiency in mind, there is an automatic function that disconnects the front motor, but when a more dynamic and precise drive is sought, a power distribution more oriented to the rear axle comes into play, along with new suspension configurations, front anti-roll bars and a recalibrated suspension.

It is also worth highlighting that the Polestar 3 now features the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin processor, enabling more advanced management of active safety systems, vehicle functions and sensor data. It receives the new Storm and Krypton exterior colours and, inside, upholsteries are introduced: Bio-attributed MicroTech quilted in Nebula colour with recycled aluminium inserts, and ventilated Nappa leather in Dune colour with black ash wood inserts, while Bio-attributed MicroTech in Charcoal with recycled aluminium becomes standard.

Finally, it is worth noting that the Polestar 3, as will also happen with the Polestar 4, has had its nomenclature restructured. For both models the designations are now Rear motor and Dual motor, although the top versions will now be called Performance on the Polestar 3 and Dual motor with Performance pack on the Polestar 4.

The new Polestar 3 is now available to order in Spain at a starting price of 81,900 euros.

What’s new on the Polestar 4

Polestar 4 (1)

As you know, the Polestar 4 is an electric SUV with sporty aspirations, and to give it a more coupé-like character it is now called the Polestar 4 Coupé. It also receives a major chassis overhaul aimed at improving agility, comfort and precision. For this reason, the Rear motor and Dual motor versions now incorporate a recalibrated chassis with high-capacity passive dampers, new springs and anti-roll bars, as well as polyurethane rebound bumpers.

The updated Polestar 4 is also available to order in Spain, starting at a price of 65,900 euros.
