Toyota Yaris Cross 2024: new design elements and more power for the popular compact SUV
The Japanese brand has just given its Yaris Cross a facelift, adding new design elements, improving its insulation and comfort, and adding a more powerful engine
Since its debut back in 2020, the Toyota Yaris Cross (road test) has established itself as one of the brand’s most successful models, thanks to its excellent balance between price and product, its versatility for both urban use and long journeys, and its efficient, electrified powertrain range.
Now, after three years on sale, Toyota has decided to update the Yaris Cross with a light facelift to its exterior design, improved ride comfort, and by replacing the 120H variant, which produces 116 CV, with the 130H, which produces 132 CV and 185 Nm of torque.

Design updates and a new launch version
First of all, starting with the design, it is important to highlight that the new Toyota Yaris Cross comes with a new launch trim called Premiere Edition, which debuts the most distinctive updates of the refresh, starting with the new exclusive Urban Khaki paint finish in a two-tone configuration, the new 18-inch alloy wheels, also in a two-tone configuration, and the new Toyota logos with a cleaner look.
In addition, Toyota has also confirmed that units equipped with the GR trim will also receive new highlighted details to bring out the sportier side of the compact SUV.

A slightly more refined cabin
Moving on to the cabin, the new Yaris Cross, and specifically the Premiere Edition trim, features green upholstery stitching that matches the decorative lines on the instrument panel and doors. Two-tone options Platinum Pearl White and Silver Metallic are also available.
The seat upholstery features a new design pattern and a soft-touch covering on the instrument panel, which, combined with the new optional 7-inch or 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system with a 10.5-inch touchscreen, offers a more technological and higher-quality experience.

Toyota has placed special emphasis on reducing exterior noise while driving, so it has added a special mount on the left side of the engine to reduce vibrations, installed a resonator in the intake, a three-layer insulator at the rear of the dashboard, and extra thickness for the insulation built into the bonnet.
As for the mechanical side, the Yaris Cross uses a hybrid system consisting of a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a transmission featuring a larger and more powerful electric motor-generator, which increases output to 132 CV, reducing the 0-100 km/h time by half a second to 10.7 seconds, and the 80-120 km/h time to 8.9 seconds, a reduction of 0.4 seconds.
As part of Toyota T-MATE, the Yaris Cross comes with a long list of driver assistance systems, including notable ones such as pre-collision, emergency stop, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping assist.
