Xpeng will produce a fourth model at Magna Steyr's Austrian plant in Graz
This local production strategy strengthens Xpeng’s positioning in an increasingly demanding and competitive European market.
The Chinese brand Xpeng is set to strengthen its collaboration with Magna Steyr, the company in charge of assembling its vehicles for the European market. In addition to the G6, G9 and P7+ models, which are already in production, a fourth model will soon begin rolling off the assembly line at the Austrian plant in Graz. This has been confirmed by Xpeng’s own Chief Executive Officer, He Xiaopeng. For the time being, however, it has not been revealed which model it will be.
Since September 2025, Xpeng has been assembling its G6 and G9 electric SUVs at Magna Steyr’s facilities in Graz. This year, the P7+ electric saloon was also added to the production line. All of these vehicles are intended for the European market. Producing locally within the European Union has become essential for Chinese manufacturers, as a way to avoid the high special tariffs that Brussels applies to electric vehicles imported from China.

“Local production is a fundamental pillar of XPENG’s long-term commitment to Europe. With the G6 and G9 SUVs, together with the P7+ saloon, and soon a fourth model joining them, the company is maintaining its strategy of localising production in Europe.”
What could that fourth Xpeng model be?
Although, as we said, the identity of the new model is still unknown, some speculation already exists about where things might be heading. A first hypothesis, which seems the most likely, is that it will be the X9, the brand’s flagship electric MPV, which can already be ordered in Germany from 77,600 euros and whose first deliveries are scheduled for this same month. This vehicle features an 800-volt architecture, seven seats and a focus on maximum comfort.
There is also the possibility, however, that it could be a model from the Mona series, developed in collaboration with the Didi mobility service. The first member, the affordable Mona M03 saloon, was launched in China two years ago, but is not yet available in Europe. Xpeng has already expressed its intention to introduce this family of vehicles to the continent.

Finally, a third candidate would be the Mona L03, a compact coupé-SUV that follows the design language of the M03.
