Ford will triple its EcoBoost-equipped vehicle output by 2015

There is no doubt that, at least since Ford, the strategy to follow in the coming years is downsizing. This is nothing more than replacing high-displacement petrol engines with smaller ones, with the aim of reducing consumption and emissions while maintaining power and torque through the use of forced induction.
And for this type of engine Ford uses the name EcoBoost, a family of engines that combine direct-injection turbocharging with variable valve timing to deliver the power of a larger engine with the fuel efficiency of a smaller one. By 2015, Ford wants to triple its annual production of vehicles equipped with these engines in Europe, rising from 141,000 to 480,000 in 2015.
And of all those, more than 300,000 are expected to be fitted with the one-litre version, leaving just 180,000 vehicles with the 2.0-litre. The former is capable of delivering 125 CV (although there is talk that it could reach 175 CV), while the latter reaches 250 CV.
It is the future, without a doubt, both for the care of the environment and for our wallets, since these two things are reduced at the same time that power and the enjoyment of a high-performance engine are not compromised.
