G-Power GX5M Bi-TURBO: the BMW X5 pushed to the extreme is here

The German tuner specialising in modifying BMW has just unveiled its latest creation, based on the X5M and raising its output to 800 CV

G-Power and its spectacular machines, such as its latest BMW M8 or its modified M2, are some of the tuning projects we most enjoy bringing you in the magazine, for their radical styling, their exclusive elements and, best of all, their modifications under the bonnet that push their power to outrageous figures.

These ingredients fit perfectly with the tuner’s newest offering, which this time has chosen the flagship SUV of the Bavarian brand as its base, giving it that special touch we love and naming it G-Power GX5M Bi-TURBO.

Few but sufficient novelties

If the BMW X5M already looks genuinely sporty, this kit emphasises its character by fitting new forged alloy wheels in 23 inches, finished in black with silver detailing, which also plants this sporty SUV more firmly on the road.

As well as the wheels, larger-diameter exhausts have also been fitted, bigger than those of the standard version, which together with the gigantic tyres it runs make it clear this car means business.

Looking inside, this G-Power keeps its interior design practically intact, adding several inserts bearing the unit number and the tuner’s logo.

The G-Power X5 engine

Setting the styling aside, it’s time to talk about its heart, arguably the best part of the package, as G-Power has put great effort into improving the performance of the X5M through new control units.

The first, called the “GP-700 kit”, lets the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 625 CV in the X5M Competition raise its output to 700 CV and its peak torque to 850 Nm.

If this kit isn’t enough, G-Power also offers the “GP-750 kit”, which, as its name suggests, raises power to 750 CV and peak torque to 900 Nm.

Finally, if you want the very best, there is the “GP 800 kit”, which in addition to another control unit fits new turbochargers that allow 800 CV and a torque figure of no less than 950 Nm.
