Mercedes-AMG shows what the interior of the new four-door GT Coupé will look like

Mercedes-AMG is fine-tuning the final details of the future new four-door GT Coupé, of which it gives us a preview by showing its interior

Mercedes-AMG is in the middle of developing the new four-door GT Coupé, a model whose interior the Affalterbach company wants to show us, and about which it emphasizes “the ambition that performance should not only be measurable, but truly experienceable”. With this premise, I imagine you can guess where things are heading.

Even high-performance and supercars are not immune to this craze for screens and the need to provide information that is often unnecessary or redundant, whether through data or graphics. For now, Mercedes-AMG is working hard to sell all this technology as a way of keeping the focus on the driving experience, which is obvious in any car but even more so in a sports car of this kind.

Once the doors of the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé four-door open, we are welcomed by newly developed front seats, designed to offer strong lateral support through dynamic bends. These seats can optionally be replaced by the AMG Performance seats with integrated headrests, though in both cases a sense of sportiness is conveyed through the driving position, backrests that feel light, and a lightweight construction thanks to the galvanised inserts. The seats, like the rest of the cabin, can be personalised through exclusive colour combinations or personalisation options from Manufaktur.

That covers the front, but the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé four-door also has rear seats, two in fact, in the form of two comfortable, contoured individual seats, although Mercedes-AMG optionally allows them to be replaced by a three-seat bench. In both cases they can be folded down to increase boot capacity. In this rear area, Mercedes-AMG has paid special attention to passenger comfort, leaving enough space between the head and the sloping roofline, as well as a footwell that, despite the sporty stance, allows a natural knee position and a comfortable upright seating posture.

Returning to the front seats, the driver, once seated, finds the AMG Performance steering wheel, flattened at the bottom and available in a range of high-quality rims, from supple leather to lightweight carbon fibre and Microcut anti-slip microfibre. The steering wheel features shift paddles that allow precise control, roller switches and rockers, colour LCD displays and modern icons.

From here, the driver finds a cabin designed around their position, so behind the steering wheel the instrument cluster stands out, dominated by a 10.2-inch screen, and ergonomically oriented towards the driver is the infotainment system, formed by a 14-inch screen. In case that is not enough, the front passenger will have independent content with a dedicated 14-inch screen for that seat. Below the central screen is the console, which includes an armrest, inductive charging for smartphones and rotary controls to adjust engine and chassis response, all with a metallic, three-dimensional look.

Overhead is the Sky Control one-piece glass panoramic roof, which has the distinction of being divisible into individually switchable segments, meaning you can choose how much light and visibility you let in. When night falls, illuminated AMG emblems appear above the driver and front passenger heads, and racing stripes inspired by motorsport run across the entire roof surface. Ambient lighting is also a star feature, with high-resolution ambient styles selectable and even background motifs for the screens that improve mood.
