Skoda Octavia vRS: everything we need to know about the petrol and diesel versions
The new Skoda Octavia vRS could arrive next autumn but, for the time being, final prices and specifications remain unknown.

Skoda has confirmed more details about the petrol and diesel versions of its new Skoda Octavia vRS. This information comes months after the specifications of the plug-in hybrid version were revealed. As expected, the engines running on traditional fuels, petrol and diesel, use the same drivetrains as their siblings, the Volkswagen Golf GTI and the Volkswagen Golf GTD.
The petrol version is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 242 CV. It is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox but can also be combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, better known by its initials DSG.

The diesel version, meanwhile, is powered by a 2.0-litre engine that delivers 197 CV and is only available with a DSG gearbox. Drivers of these new models will be able to optionally choose an on-demand four-wheel-drive system. For now, the brand has not revealed further details about performance or fuel economy.

Skoda Octavia vRS: we know more details about the model
Skoda released the details of the plug-in hybrid vRS iV version earlier this year. It features a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine coupled to a 115 CV electric motor, which produces a combined output of up to 245 CV and 399 Nm of maximum torque; a power figure identical to that of the petrol vRS. These figures should allow the new model to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 244 km/h.
The manufacturer has not released official consumption figures ahead of homologation, but Skoda is indicating that this new model will have CO2 emissions of approximately 30 g/km. It is also worth highlighting that the new Skoda Octavia vRS iV will have a fully electric range of 59 kilometres on a single full charge.

So far, the hatchback and estate (known as familiar in Spain) body styles have been revealed. The fourth generation of the Skoda Octavia has received typical vRS features, including 19-inch alloy wheels, twin exhaust outlets, a wider front bumper, a large black grille, air intakes and a rear bumper featuring a large black diffuser. We must not forget the black door mirrors and a small spoiler.
As for lighting, it comes equipped with full LED matrix headlights and LED rear lights as standard. The interior, meanwhile, features upgrades such as Alcantara vRS sports seats offering electric adjustment and heating. The roof lining is also Alcantara, as are the dashboard details. In addition, it comes with aluminium pedals as standard. The steering wheel has contrast stitching, and from the driver’s seat it is possible to control the 10-colour LED ambient lighting system and create “coordinated lighting scenes”.
More discerning drivers will be able to equip their vehicle with a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system running the latest Skoda “always online” MIB3 interface and offering a range of connected services. A 10.0-inch virtual cockpit digital instrument display also features, along with adaptive cruise control, three-zone climate control, an electric tailgate, front and rear parking sensors and keyless entry.

The new Skoda Octavia vRS is fitted with a recalibrated sport suspension ‘vRS‘ which (on petrol and diesel versions only) lowers the car’s ride height by 15 mm compared with the standard model. Progressive steering is also standard. Final prices and specifications have yet to be announced, but the first units of the Octavia vRS could arrive in autumn.
