The Audi RS7 hits Spain hard, and its starting price is not for everyone

The new Audi RS7 has just arrived on the Spanish market, where it sets a starting price of €146,060 to rival the Porsche Panamera.

We were all eagerly awaiting the renewal of Audi’s RS family, which has always been forged by high-calibre models. The new Audi RS6 and RS7 unveiled their formulas in early September, with the aim of being shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Alongside them, the four-ring brand showcased a new design language and a new mechanical path that all its sporty offspring will follow to the letter. Now, this combination can finally be enjoyed in Spain, where the RS7 has just landed with a starting price that, as is customary, is not for everyone.

Despite stringent and demanding anti-pollution regulations, Audi has found a way to create a high-performance, sporty vehicle without resorting to electrification. To do so, it has used a mild-hybrid system, which not only supports the combustion engine but also works to reduce consumption and emissions.

It is no coincidence that the magic of the Audi RS7 can be appreciated through its aggressive styling and its mechanical features. Focusing first on the design, we find a coupé-style saloon with an aggressive look, where a much more prominent front end is flanked by two exuberant air intakes which, in turn, house a splitter that already hints at the true character of the new RS7.

The rear, in addition to being adorned with a diffuser finished in carbon fibre, features two cylindrical exhaust outlets that shape the German saloon’s soundtrack. And it is no small matter, since the engineers at the four-ring brand opted for a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 to power both the RS7 and the RS6.

This celebrated heart produces 600 hp and 800 Nm of torque, figures delivered through Quattro all-wheel drive and a torque-converter automatic gearbox. Thanks to this combination, the RS7 can reach 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds or even less, a time complemented by a top speed limited to 250 km/h, although with the RS Dynamic and RS Dynamic Plus packages, this rises to 280 and 305 km/h respectively.

It should come as no surprise that the German brand asks for a sum of €146,060 for the new RS7, a figure that places it in competition with vehicles of the calibre of the Porsche Panamera or the Mercedes-AMG GT Four-Door. This is how Audi returns to the fray with this new batch of RS vehicles, which will be complemented by the renewal of the RS3 and the imminent arrival of the RS Q8.
