The Century Coupé breaks away from the Toyota brand and aims to become an alternative to Bentley and Rolls Royce

Century has become an independent luxury brand and is going to launch a new model that will become the flagship of the new brand.

Century

Century was a luxury model that emerged from the Toyota catalogue. Little by little, it evolved into a model family and is now an independent brand. With this new brand, Toyota intends to create a luxury range that can compete with brands as popular among luxury enthusiasts as Bentley and Rolls Royce.

The Century Coupé was recently presented as a concept model and will soon be ready for production. It is expected to go into production in 2027, when it marks 60 years since the launch of the Century, and to celebrate its status as an independent brand with its own goal within the Japanese automotive group.

Century Coupe Concept 2025

A production model faithful to the prototype

The production model is not expected to differ much from the concept car we saw in 2025. Aesthetically, it may not change much, although the interior will likely see more changes. The concept car was presented with only two seats, the driver’s and a rear seat on the passenger side. To provide the daily usability that any vehicle needs, it is expected to have four seats.

As for the engine, this luxury model is expected to feature a V12 engine, dropping the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 originally from the GR GT that was fitted to the prototype. What is not known is whether this V12 will be a new design or an adaptation of an existing one.

The bets point to a 6.0-litre V12 engine with plug-in hybrid technology. This powerful powertrain is expected to deliver 800 CV of power, in line with Toyota’s intentions for this new independent luxury brand. The Century has used a V12 engine before, although it was replaced by a hybrid V8 found in the third-generation G60.

In the case of the Supra, an engine resulting from the fusion of two 3.0-litre six-cylinder engines from BMW is used, although this idea was ruled out in favour of an engine developed from scratch by Toyota, to give the new brand more identity.

The final price of this model is not yet known either, but given that it is a luxury car, it is expected to exceed 30 or 40 million yen, that is roughly between 200,000 and 270,000 euros. That said, better-equipped versions with more performance are expected to arrive and will far exceed this price.

The Century Coupé will become the flagship of the brand and will set the pace for the rest of the vehicles that follow it, offering luxury, functionality and durability to the drivers who choose this spectacular vehicle.
