The Denza N8 arrives as an update of the model that emerged from the Denza X, and has been improved with three engine versions, one of them with three motors.

Denza was originally born as a partnership between BYD and Mercedes. Together they developed several models, but at one point the German brand split off and BYD continued with the brand on its own. One of the models that carried on was the Denza X, an SUV that later became the Denza N8 and which has recently been revamped.

The new Denza N8 does not come alone: it is joined by a new six-seat version, which receives the name N8L. The new version offers a look closer to a traditional SUV, with a higher roof that improves the occupants’ seating position by offering more headroom.

The data has been taken from the information provided by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT). The length is 5,150 mm, while the width is 1,999 mm and the height reaches 1,820 mm. The wheelbase is 3,075 mm. In the case of the N8L, this distance is 50 mm longer, so the length increases to 5,200 mm.

At the front we find vertically arranged headlights, with the same style as the Denza Z9. The look is reinforced by a small black grille placed at the base of the bumper. As an option, a set of 20- or 21-inch wheels can be added, along with a roof in the same colour as the bodywork. There are also custom brake calipers and electronically operated side steps.

Three powertrains

Denza has announced that it will sell three versions. The first two will feature a rear-axle motor offering two power outputs. The first delivers 320 kW, equivalent to 429 hp, while the second configuration delivers 370 kWh, which equals 496 hp. Despite these figures, Denza has wanted to launch a three-motor model, which will be the flagship of the brand.

The three-motor version has two 310 kW motors, equivalent to 416 hp, and a front-axle motor delivering 270 kW, that is, 362 hp. The combined total output is 1,193 hp. This is more than the Ferrari F80 offers, whose output is 1,184 hp.

The battery powering the electric motors uses BYD Blade technology, so it is compatible with 1,500 kW fast-charging technology. In terms of technology, it is equipped with the semi-autonomous driving system God’s Eye 5.0. This is capable of performing driving manoeuvres both in town and on the motorway. In addition to specific software, it features specialised hardware, including a roof-mounted LiDAR radar and millimetre-wave radars integrated into the front bumper.
